Chemical Composition5.1

20、The material shall conform to the composition limitsspecified in Table 1.5.2 If a product (check) analysis is performed by thepurchaser, the material shall conform to the product (check)analysis variations in Specification B 880.6. Mechanical Properties and Other Requirements6.1 Tensile TestThe mate

21、rial shall conform to the tensileproperties specified in Table 2.6.1.1 Tensile properties for material specified as small-diameter and light-wall tube (converter sizes) shall be asprescribed in Table X1.1.6.2 Hydrostatic or Nondestructive Electric TestEach pipeor tube shall be subjected to either th

22、e hydrostatic test or thenondestructive electric test. The type of test to be used shall beat the option of the manufacturer, unless otherwise specified inthe purchase order.7. Dimensions and Permissible Variations7.1 Diameter, Wall Thickness, and LengthThe permissiblevariations in the outside diame

23、ter and wall thickness shallconform to the permissible variations prescribed in the Permis-sible Variations for Outside Diameter and Wall Thickness ofSeamless Cold-Worked Pipe and Tube, Permissible Variationsfor Outside Diameter and Wall Thickness of Hot-FinishedTube, and Permissible Variations for

24、Outside Diameter andWall Thickness of Seamless Hot-Worked Pipe tables in Speci-fication B 829. The permissible variations in the length shallconform to the permissible variations prescribed in the Permis-sible Variations in Length table in Specification B 829.7.2 Permissible variations for material

25、specified as small-diameter and light-wall tube (converter size) shall conform tothe permissible variations prescribed in Table X1.2.8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 The material shall be uniform in quality and temper,smooth, commercially straight, and free of injurious imperfec-tions.9. Sa

26、mpling9.1 Lot Definition:9.1.1 A lot for chemical analysis shall consist of one heat.9.1.2 A lot for all other testing shall consist of all materialfrom the same heat, nominal size (excepting length), andcondition.9.1.2.1 Where material cannot be identified by heat, a lotshall consist of not more th

27、an 500 lb (227 kg) of material in thesame condition and nominal size (excepting length).9.2 Test Material Selection:9.2.1 Chemical AnalysisRepresentative samples fromeach lot shall be taken during pouring or subsequent process-ing.9.2.1.1 Product (check) analysis shall be wholly the respon-sibility

28、of the purchaser.9.2.2 Mechanical and Other PropertiesSamples of thematerial to provide test specimens for mechanical and otherproperties shall be taken from such locations in each lot as tobe representative of that lot. Test specimens shall be taken frommaterial in the final condition.10. Number of

29、 Tests10.1 Chemical AnalysisOne test per lot.10.2 TensionOne test per lot.10.3 Hydrostatic or Nondestructive Electric TestEachpiece in each lot.11. Specimen Preparation11.1 Room-Temperature Tension SpecimenMaterial shallbe tested in the direction of fabrication. Whenever possible, allpipe and tube s

30、hall be tested in full tubular size. When testingin full tubular size is not possible, longitudinal strip specimens,or the largest possible round specimen, shall be used. In theevent of disagreement when full tubular testing is not possible,a longitudinal strip specimen with reduced gage length asco

31、ntained in Test Methods E8shall be used.12. Test Methods12.1 Chemical CompositionIn case of disagreement, thechemical composition shall be determined in accordance withTest Methods E 1473 or Methods E38. Methods E38is to beused only for elements not covered by Test Methods E 1473.12.2 Tension TestTe

32、nsion testing shall be conducted inaccordance with Test Methods E8.12.3 Hydrostatic TestEach pipe or tube with an outsidediameter18 in. (3 mm) and larger and with wall thickness of0.015 in. (0.38 mm) and over shall be tested by the manufac-turer to an internal hydrostatic pressure of 1000 psi (6.9 M
