Scope*1.1 This specification covers UNS N08020, UNS N08026,and UNS N08024 round weaving wire.NOTE 1Weaving wire is custom

Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms S

7、pecific to This Standard:3.1.1 weaving wire, nterm weaving wire as used in thisspecification shall be understood to cover round wire intendedespecially for weaving.4. Ordering Information4.1 It is the responsibility of the purchaser to specify allrequirements that are necessary for the safe and sati

8、sfactoryperformance of material ordered under this specification.Examples of such requirements include, but are not limited to,the following:4.1.1 Quantity (weight),4.1.2 Name of material or UNS number,4.1.3 Dimensions,4.1.4 Condition (9.2),4.1.5 Finish (9.2),4.1.6 Inspection (14.1),4.1.7 Certificat

9、ionState if certification or a report of testresults is required (Section 16),4.1.8 ASTM designation and year of issue, and4.1.9 If possible, the intended end use.NOTE 2A typical ordering description is as follows: 200 lb (90.7 kg),UNS N08020, 0.020 in. (0.508 mm), annealed and pickled, ASTMSpecific

Materials and Manufacture5.1 The last heat treatment shall be a solution-annealingheat treatment.NOTE 3The recommended annealing temperatures are 1900 to2100F (1038 to 1149C) for UNS N08020 and 2050 to 2200F (1121 to1204C) for UNS N08026 and UNS N08024, all followed by quenchingin wat

11、er or rapidly cooling by other means.5.2 Wire shall be annealed or cold drawn as a final operationto produce the specified mechanical properties.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The material shall conform to the requirements as tochemical composition prescribed in Table 1.6.2 If a product (check) analysis

12、 is performed by thepurchaser, the material shall conform to the product (check)analysis variations prescribed in Specification B 880.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee B02 onNonferrous Metals and Alloys and is the direct responsibility of SubcommitteeB02.07 on Refined N

15、.7. Mechanical Properties7.1 The material shall conform to the requirements as tomechanical properties prescribed in Table 2 at room tempera-ture.8. Dimensions and Permissible Variations8.1 The diameter of the wire shall not vary from thatspecified by more than the permissible variations prescribed

16、inTable 3.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 The wire shall be uniform in diameter and free ofinjurious seams, laps, pits, die marks, or defects tending toimpair the use of the wire.9.2 The wire shall be supplied as annealed or cold-drawnhaving a finish as pickled, bright-annealed, or cold-dr

17、awn.10. Sampling10.1 Lot:10.1.1 A lot for chemical analysis shall consist of one heat.10.1.2 A lot for mechanical properties shall consist of thesame gage of each heat in each heat treatment charge.10.2 Test Material Selection:10.2.1 Chemical AnalysisRepresentative samples shall betaken during pouri

18、ng or subsequent processing.10.2.1.1 Check analysis shall be wholly the responsibilityof the purchaser.10.2.2 Mechanical PropertiesSamples of the material toprovide test specimens shall be taken from such locations ineach lot as to be representative of that lot.11. 19、sisOne test per lot.11.2 Mechanical PropertiesOne test per lot.12. Specimen Preparation12.1 Tension test specimens shall be taken from materialafter final heat treatment and cold drawing. The tension testspecimens shall conform to the appropriate sections of TestMethods E8.13. Test Methods13.1 The c

20、hemical composition and mechanical propertiesof the material as enumerated in this specification shall, in caseof disagreement, be determined in accordance with the follow-ing methods:Test ASTM DesignationsChemical analysisTensionE 1473AE8AIron shall be determined arithmetically by difference.14. 21、spection14.1 If specified, source inspection of the material by thepurchaser at the manufacturers plant shall be made as agreedupon between the purchaser and the manufacturer as part of thepurchase contract.15. Rejection and Rehearing15.1 Material that fails to conform to the requirements ofthis spe

22、cification may be rejected. Rejection should be reportedto the producer or supplier promptly and in writing. Product Marking17.1 The size of the wire, ASTM specification number,grade or UNS number, heat number, and name or trademark ofthe manufacturer shall be marked on a tag securely a

31、ttached toeach coil or spool.18. Packaging and Package Marking18.1 Each coil or spool shall be one continuous length ofwire, properly coiled or spooled, and firmly tied. Unlessotherwise specified, coils shall be placed in drums or shall bepaper-wrapped, and spools shall be packaged in such a mannera

32、s to assure safe delivery to their destination when properlytransported by any common carrier.19.
