Scope*1.1 This specification covers aluminum-alloy investmentcastings designated as shown in Table 1.1.2 This specification is for aluminum-alloy investmentcastings used in general purpose applications. It may notaddress the mechanical properties integrity testing and verifi-cation required fo

4、r highly loaded or safety critical applications.1.3 Alloy and temper designations are in accordance withANSI H35.1/H35.1 (M).1.4 Unless the order specifies the “M” specificationdesignation, the material shall be furnished to the inch-poundunits.1.5 For acceptance criteria for inclusion of new alumin

5、umand aluminum alloys and their properties in this specification,see Annex A1 and Annex A2.1.6 UnitsThe values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. Thevalues stated in each system may not be exact equivalents;therefore, each system shall be used in

6、dependently of the other.Combining values from the two systems may result in noncon-formance with the standard.1.7 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. 33、definitionsof product terms used in this specification.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 investment casting, na metal object produced bysurrounding (investing) an expendable pattern (usually wax orplastic) with a refractory slurry that sets at room temperature,after which the

34、pattern is removed through the use of heat, andthen filling the resulting cavity with molten metal and allowingit to solidify.4. Ordering Information4.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe following information (1.4 and 1.6):4.1.1 This specification designation (which inclu

35、des thenumber, the year, and the revision letter, if applicable),NOTE 1For inch-pound application, specify Specification B618 andfor metric application specify Specification B618M.
