17、 required.5.2 When material is purchased for agencies of the U.S.Government, this shall be specified in the contract or purchaseorder, and the material shall conform to the SupplementaryRequirements as defined in the current issue of SpecificationB 248.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 MaterialsThe ma

18、terial of manufacture shall be castbillets or slabs of one of the alloys cited in Section 1 of thisspecification. The cast material shall be of such soundness andpurity as to be suitable to product the product as described in6.2.6.2 Manufacture:6.2.1 The product shall be manufactured by such hot wor

19、k-ing, cold working, and annealing processes as to produce auniform wrought structure in the finished product.6.2.2 The product shall be rolled to finish size and heattreated when required to meet the temper properties.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The material shall conform to the requirements specifi

20、edin Table 1.7.2 These composition limits do not preclude the presenceof other elements. Limits may be established and analysisrequired for unnamed elements may be established by agree-ment between the manufacturer or supplier and the purchaser.7.3 For copper alloys in which copper is given as remai

21、nder,copper may be taken as the difference between the sum of allthe elements analyzed and 100 %. When all the elements in thetable are analyzed, their sum shall be 99.5 % minimum.8. Temper8.1 The product is offered in the following tempers inaccordance with Classification B 601.8.1.1 Copper Alloy U

22、NS No. C17410 Strip and Sheet isoffered in the TH02 (12 HT) and TH04 (HT) tempers.8.1.2 Copper Alloy UNS No. C17450 Strip and Sheet isoffered in TH02 (12 HT) Temper.8.1.3 Copper Alloy UNS No. C17460 Strip and Sheet isoffered in the TH03 (34 HT) and TH04 (HT) tempers.9. Physical Properties9.1 Electri

23、cal ConductivityThe electrical conductivity ofthe product shall conform to the applicable requirement givenin Table 2.10. Mechanical Properties10.1 Tensile Requirements:10.1.1 Tension tests are required for material under 0.075 in.(1.905 mm) in thickness and shall conform to the mechanicalproperties

24、 in Table 3.10.1.2 Tension test specimens shall be taken so that theirlongitudinal axis is parallel to the direction of rolling.10.2 Rockwell HardnessRockwell hardness measure-ments are required for material 0.075 in. (1.905 mm) and overand shall conform to the Rockwell Hardness number in Table3.11.

Workmanship, Finish and Appearance12.1 The product shall be free of defects, but blemishes ofa nature that do not interfere with the intended applicati

30、on areacceptable.13. Sampling13.1 SamplingThe heat, lot, portion size, and selection ofsamples should be as follows:13.1.1 HeatA heat shall be the result of castings pouredsimultaneously from the same source of molten metal.13.1.2 Lot SizeThe lot size shall be a heat or fractionthereof.13.1.3 Portio

31、n SizeSample pieces for physical and me-chanical testing shall be taken from each lot. Sample pieces forchemistry shall be in accordance with A7.1.2.1 of SpecificationB 248.14. Number of Tests and Retests14.1 The number of tests and retests shall be in accordancewith Section 8 of Specification B 248

Specimen Preparation15.1 Chemical AnalysisSample preparation shall be inaccordance with Practice E 255.15.2 Tension TestsSample preparation shall be in accor-dance with Test Methods E 8.15.3 Rockwell HardnessThe test specimens shall be of asize and shape to permit testing by the available test

33、equipmentand shall be taken to permit testing in a plane parallel to thedirection of deformation given to the product.15.3.1 The surface of the test specimens shall be sufficientlysmooth and even to permit the accurate determination ofhardness.15.3.2 The specimen shall be free of scale and foreignma

34、tter and care shall be taken to avoid any change in condition,that is, heating or cold working.16. Test Methods16.1 The test methods for determining the mechanical andphysical properties are detailed in Specification B 248.16.2 The test method for determining chemical analysis forcompliance and prep

35、aration to certifications and test reportsshall be at the discretion of the reporting laboratory.16.2.1 In case of dispute, the test method in the Annex ofSpecification B 194 shall be used for determining chemicalrequirements in Table 1.16.3 When analysis for unnamed or residual elements isrequired

36、in the purchase order, the method of analysis shall bemutually agreed upon between the manufacturer or supplierand the purchaser.17.
