Ordering Information4.1Orders for ingots under this specification shall include the following information:4.1.1Quantity in pounds,4.1.2Alloy (Table 1),4.1.3Size, if not the manufacturers standard,4.1.4Specification number and date
17、,4.1.5Source inspection (Section 7), and4.1.6Marking (Section 9).4.1 Orders for zinc alloy ingot under this specification shall include information as specified in Specification B949, Section 4.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 The alloys may be made by any approved process.5.2 The material covered by
18、 this specification shall be of uniform quality and shall be free from dross or other harmfulcontamination.6. Chemical Requirements6.1 LimitsThe alloy shall conform to the requirements as to chemical composition prescribed in Table 1. Conformance shallbe determined by the producer by analyzing sampl
19、es taken at the time the ingots are made. If the producer has determined thechemical composition of the metal during the course of manufacture, it shall not be required to sample and analyze the finishedproduct.6.2In case of dispute, the following requirements shall apply:6.2.1Number of SamplesSampl
20、es for verification of chemical composition shall be taken as follows:6.2.2If the ingots are shipped in carload lots of the same alloy, not less than five (5) ingots shall be taken at random from thecarload for sampling. If the shipment is less than a carload lot, one (1) sample ingot shall be taken
21、 from each 10 000 lb. 4500kg or fraction thereof. When it is deemed necessary, a sample may be taken from each melt of 1000 lb. 450 kg or more. .6.2 Chemical requirement procedures shall be in compliance with the provisions of Specification B949, Section 5.2.6.3 Methods of SamplingSamples from ingot
22、s for determination of chemical composition shall be taken in accordance withone of the following methods:6.3.1Samples for chemical analysis shall be taken from the material by drilling, sawing milling, turning, or clipping arepresentative piece or pieces to obtain weight of prepared sample not less
23、 than 100 g. Sampling shall be in accordance withPractice E88.6.3.2By agreement, an optional method of sampling for analysis may be by melting together representative portions of each ingotselected, and then sampling the liquid composite by casting suitable specimens for either spectrographic or che
24、mical analysis.Sampling procedures shall be in compliance with the provisions of Specification B949, Section 6.6.4 Method of AnalysisThe determination of chemical composition shall be made in accordance with suitable chemical TestMethods Approved methods include: Test Methods E536, suitable spectroc
25、hemical methods ISO3815-1 and ISO3815-2, or othermethods. In case of dispute, the results should preferably be secured by Test Methods E536 or ISO3815-1 or ISO3815-2 and shallbe the basis of acceptance. , ISO 3815-1, or ISO 3815-2.NOTE1Test Methods E536 is not directly applicable to the alloys in Sp

30、 122Each of the methods may be modified and formatted for the alloy to be assayed. An experienced chemist, using suitable and/or traceable standards alongwith valid quality assurance techniques, will be able to perform and validate the methods and demonstrate acceptable precision and accuracy.6.5Sam
31、ples for spectrochemical and other methods of analysis shall be suitable for the form of material being analyzed and thetype of analytical method used (for example, see Practice E634.7. Source Inspection7.1If the purchaser desires that his representative inspect or witness the inspection and testing
32、 of the product prior to shipment,such agreement shall be made by the purchaser and producer or supplier as part of the contract or purchase order.7.2When such inspection or witness of inspection and testing is agreed upon, the producer or supplier shall afford the purchasersrepresentative all reaso
33、nable facilities to satisfy him that the product meets the requirements of this specification. Inspection andtests shall be conducted so there is no unnecessary interference with the producers operations.7.1 Source inspection shall be in compliance with the provisions of Specification B949, Section
34、7.8. Rejection and Rehearing8.1Material that fails to conform to the requirements of this specification may be rejected. Rejection should be reported to theproducer or supplier promptly and in writing. In case of dissatisfaction with the results of the test, the producer or supplier maymake claim fo
35、r a rehearing. If the rehearing establishes that the material does not conform to the requirements of this specification,as much of the rejected original material as possible shall be returned to the producer or supplier.8.1 Claims to be considered in accordance with the provisions of Specification

Identification Marking9.1All ingots shall be properly marked for identification with the producers name or brand.9.2Each bundle or skid shall be identified with the producers heat, lot or other identification mark.9.3Each ingot, bundle or skid shall be marked with the appropriate

Investigation of Claims9.1 Claims shall be investigated in accordance with the provisions of Specification B949, Section 8.10.
