1、Designation: C 1091 03aStandard Test Method forHydrostatic Infiltration Testing of Vitrified Clay Pipe Lines1This standard is issued under the fixed designation C 1091; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of la
2、st revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This test method defines procedures for hydrostaticinfiltration testing of new installations of vitrified clay pipeline
3、s, to demonstrate the structural integrity of the installedline. Refer to Practice C 12.1.2 This test method is suitable for testing gravity-flow pipelines constructed of vitrified clay pipe or combinations of claypipe and other pipe materials.1.3 This test method is applicable to the testing of the
4、 pipelines only. Manholes or other structures should be testedseparately.1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The values given in parentheses are providedfor information only.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety problems, if any, asso

It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2. Terminology3.1 Terminology C 896 can be used for clarifications ofterminology in this test method.4. Summary of Test Method4.1 This test method shall be performed on lines afterconnectio
7、n laterals, if any, have been plugged and adequatelybraced to withstand the test pressure, and after the trencheshave been backfilled and compacted.5. Significance and Use5.1 The tests called for herein, for their results, indicate theacceptability of installed vitrified clay pipelines.6. Preparatio
8、n of the Line6.1 To ensure the proper seating of the test plugs and theaccuracy of the test, the lines should be cleaned prior to testing.6.2 Examples of methods for cleaning the lines are thesewer cleaning ball and high pressure flushing equipment.7. Procedure7.1 The hydrostatic infiltration test p
9、rocedure is applicablewhere the measured water table is 2 ft (610 mm) or greaterabove the pipe barrel at the lower manhole of the test section.Where the ground water elevation is indeterminate, less than 2ft (610 mm) above the top of the pipe barrel, or the line ispartially below the water table, us

However, where ground water is present and meetsthe criteria established in 7.1, the infiltration test procedure outlined in thispractice is recommended
11、.7.2 Determine the allowable infiltration rate for the testsection using Table 1.NOTE 2What can be called false infiltration represents condensate onthe pipe walls.7.3 The test rate table is based on the standard of 50 gal/in.diametermileday (4.6 L/mm diameterkilometreday).7.4 Table 1 shows the allo

Collect the infiltration in acalibrated container or use a calibrated weir.7.9 Terminate the infiltration test when sufficient water is

18、recision and Bias8.1 No statement is made about either the precision or biasof this test method for measuring gallons (litres) and time, since the results merely state whether there is conformance tothe criteria for success specified in the procedure.9.
