Ordering Information5.1 The type, dimensions, density, maximum use tempera-ture, and facing (if required) shall be specified

14、 by the pur-chaser. A product certification may be specified in the purchaseorder.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 Composition:6.1.1 The insulation shall be composed of glass, processedfrom a molten state into a fibrous form, bonded with a chemicalbinder. Asbestos shall not be used as an ingredient o

15、r compo-nent part of the product.6.1.2 The facing shall be a polyester film reinforced withglass yarns (MIL-I-1140). The laminating adhesive shall con-form to the requirements of MIL-A-3316. Asbestos shall not beused as an ingredient or component part of the product.7. Physical Requirements7.1 A 1-i

16、n. (25-mm) thick sample of the insulation shall beflexible when tested in accordance with 11.1.7.2 The insulation shall be of the nominal density specifiedfor its grade with a tolerance of 610 %. Density shall bedetermined in accordance with 11.2.7.3 Maximum Temperature of UseWhen tested in accor-da

17、nce with 11.10 at the insulations maximum use temperatureof 450F (232C), the insulation shall not crack, warp, flame,glow, smolder, or show evidence of fused fibers.7.4 The nonfibrous material (shot) content shall not begreater than 1.5 % by weight when tested in accordance with11.3.7.5 Binder Conte

18、ntWhen tested in accordance with 11.4,the binder content shall not exceed 30 % by weight.7.6 Corrosiveness to SteelWhen tested in accordance with11.6, steel plates in contact with the insulation shall show nocorrosion greater than comparative plates in contact with sterilecotton.7.7 Surface Burning

19、Characteristics Type I and IITheinsulation shall have a flame spread index not greater than 25and a smoke developed index not greater than 50 when testedin accordance with Test Method E 84.7.8 Quarter Scale Room Fire Test of Type IIIType III shallmeet the requirements of the Quarter-Scale Room-Fire

20、TestMethod described in 11.12.7.9 Apparent Thermal ConductivityThe thermal conduc-tivities for Type I, Grade 1 through 6 and Type III materialsshall not exceed the values shown in Table 1. Thermalconductivity shall be determined by Test Methods C 177 orC 518.7.10 Vibration Resistance of Type II Mate

21、rialsThere shallbe a maximum of 0.50 % weight loss and the insulation shallnot settle and lose thickness when subjected to the vibrationtest described in 11.9.7.11 Acoustical Performance of Type II MaterialsThecoefficients of absorption shall be not less than those shown inTable 2 when Type II mater

22、ial is tested in accordance with11.8.7.12 KerfingType III panels shall be capable of beingkerfed with a 90 V-groove to facilitate bending when the panelis folded to a right angle. The facing material shall be flexibleto form a neat square corner at the kerfed joint (see 11.11).7.13 Flashover TimeFla

23、shover time shall not occur within10 min when tested in accordance with 11.12.4.5.8. Dimensions and Permissible Variations8.1 The standard sizes and tolerances of Types I, II, and IIImaterials are listed in Table 3.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 The insulation units shall indicate good wo

24、rkmanshipand shall not have defects that adversely affect their installationand service qualities.10. Sampling10.1 Inspection and qualification shall be in accordancewith Criteria C390. Other provisions for sampling can beagreed upon between the purchaser, seller, and manufacturer.11. Test Methods11

31、ween 0.17 lb (75 g)and 0.33 lb (150 g).11.4.6 Procedure:11.4.6.1 Weigh the specimens; then place the specimens inthe 1000F (538C) furnace for 1 h.11.4.6.2 Remove the specimens from the furnace and letthem cool to room temperature in the same laboratory atmo-sphere (temperature and relative humidity)

32、 as they wereprevious to placing them in the furnace.11.4.6.3 Weigh the specimens when they have cooled toambient temperature. 35、Test Method for Determining the Vibration Resistanceof Fibrous Glass Insulation:11.9.1 ScopeThis test method provides a test to determinethe effect of vibration, at ambient temperature, on fibrous glassinsulation.11.9.2 Summary of Test MethodA 12-in. (30.5-cm) squarespecimen is subjected to a 0.13-i

36、n. (3-mm) amplitude vibrationwith a 12-Hz frequency in a horizontal plane for a period of100 h. After the 100 h of vibration, the specimen is examinedfor weight loss and loss of thickness due to settling.11.9.3 Significance and UseThis is a test method to testproducts that are installed in an above

37、ambient temperature andvibrating environment.11.9.4 Apparatus:11.9.4.1 Pin Probe, as described in Test Methods C 167.11.9.4.2 Sheet Metal Box, 12-in. (30.5-cm) Square, with a16-mesh wire screen tightly stretched over one open side.11.9.4.3 Vibration Testing Fixture, capable of vibrating at a12 Hz fr

38、equency and a 0.13-in. (3-mm) amplitude in thehorizontal plane.11.9.5 Test SpecimenCut a 12-in. (30.5-cm) square, fullthickness sample of the insulation and blow it clean of all looseor cut surface particles.11.9.6 Procedure:11.9.6.1 Measure the thickness of the specimen in 5 placesto the nearest 0.

39、1 in. (2.5 mm) using a pin probe described inTest Methods C 167.11.9.6.2 Subject the test specimen to the endurance test forType I of MIL-STD-167-1 except that the total period of thetest shall be 100 h at a frequency of 12 Hz with an amplitudeof vibration of 0.13 6 0.006 in. (3.3 mm 6 0.065 mm) onl

40、y.In preparation for the test, the test specimen shall be blownclean of all loose or cut surface particles and weighed to thenearest 0.1 g (0.002 lb). After weighing, the test specimen shallbe placed in a tight fitting five-sided sheet metal box coveredwith a No. 16-mesh wire screen tightly stretche

41、d and firmlyattached to the box over the open side. The specimen shall bein intimate contact with the screen and five sides of the box.The method of attachment shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-167-1, allowing the test specimen to have the exposedface down and in a horizontal position. A pan shall

42、 be installedbelow the test specimen to catch all material particles that fallfrom the test specimen during the test. The test shall beconducted with the specimen in the horizontal position only.The vibration excitation shall be in the horizontal position only.11.9.6.3 At the completion of the 100 h

43、 of vibration, removethe test specimen from its mounting attachments and sheetmetal box.
