Terminology3.1 DefinitionsThe definitions of the following terms us
8、edin this specification are found in Terminology C717: compres-sion seal, glazing, standard conditions, tape sealant.4. Materials and Manufacturers4.1 The preformed tape sealant shall be composed ofappropriate raw materials to result in conformance to thisspecification.4.2 The preformed tape sealant
9、 shall be of uniform dimen-sions and consistency.4.3 When properly applied, this material shall form a seal toprevent air and water from entering the system.5. Requirements5.1 The tape sealant in the original unopened container shallmeet the requirements of this specification and remain suitablefor
10、use for a minimum of 12 months from the date ofmanufacture when stored at a temperature of 26.6C (80F)maximum.5.2 Physical PropertiesThe physical properties of thematerial shall conform to the requirements specified in Table 1.6. Significance and Use6.1 This specification describes only preformed ta
11、pe seal-ants for glazing applications. Their use is specific underglazing systems to serve as a water and air barrier. The testmethods chosen are to determine their efficiency in this use.This specification does not describe all required properties ofthe preformed tape sealants. It should be recogni
12、zed by thepurchaser and design professional that not all preformed tapesealants meeting this specification are suitable for all applica-tions. Sampling7.1 The preformed tape sealant to be tested for conformancewith the requirements of this specification shall be takendirectly from a randomly selected commercial container assupplied by the manufacturer.8. Test Methods8.1 All test methods described
16、 in the following paragraphs,unless otherwise indicated, shall be performed in a laboratorycontrolled at standard conditions.
