Materials and Manufacture4.1 The sealing com
8、pound shall be a solvent release mate-rial compounded to conform to the requirements prescribed inthis specification.4.2 All material and workmanship shall be in accordancewith good commercial practice. The producer is permitted awide latitude in choice of raw materials for making theseproducts. Con
9、sequently, there is no implication that the com-pounds are equivalent in all physical properties.4.3 The manufacturing process shall be such as will ensurea homogeneous mix, free of defects that would affectserviceability, and of a consistency suitable for immediateapplication.5. General Requirement
10、s5.1 Standard ConditionsPerform all of the tests in acontrolled environment at standard conditions. Condition seal-ant samples for at least5hatthese conditions before any testsare performed.5.2 The sealant in the original container shall be suitable foruse for at least 12 months from the date of man
11、ufacture whenstored at a temperature neither below 5C (41.0F) norexceeding 27C (80.6F).5.3 The color of the sealant shall be as agreed upon betweenthe purchaser and the manufacturer.5.4 The sealant shall be intended for use only on clean, drysurfaces. When a primer is recommended by a manufacturerfo
12、r a specific substrate, all tests on that substrate shall includethe primer. However, it should be recognized by the user that not allsealants meeting this specification are suitable for all applica-tions and all substrates and that there is no implication that thesealants are equivalent in all physical properties.6.2 Refer to Guide C11

Physical Requirements7.1 Indentation HardnessThe sealant shall have durom-eter hardness with a mean value of not more than 50 units whentested in accordance with Test Method C661.7.2 BubblingThe sealant shall exhibit no mo
18、re than 650mm2(1.0 in.2) in bubbling when tested in accordance with TestMethod C712.7.3 Adhesion and Cohesion After Cyclic MovementThesealant shall have no more than 9.0 cm2(1.5 in.2) total failureper substrate when tested in accordance to Test Method C1216.7.4 Accelerated WeatheringThe sealant shal
19、l be rated nohigher than a 3 for Edge Cracking, 3 for Center Cracking, and3 for Adhesion Loss when tested in accordance with 7.4.1.Color change is to no more than that as agreed upon betweenuser and manufacturer.7.4.1 The sealant is exposed to 1 cycle (1000 h) using aFluorescent UV/Condensation Mach
20、ine as described in TestMethod C1257 Section 6.1.1, or a xenon-arc apparatus de-scribed in Test Method C1257 Section 6.1.2.
