1、Designation: C 1321 04Standard Practice forInstallation and Use of Interior Radiation Control CoatingSystems (IRCCS) in Building Construction1This standard is issued under the fixed designation C 1321; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the

2、 case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This practice has been prepared for use by the designer, specifier, and applicator of I

3、RCCS (Interior Radiation ControlCoating Systems) for use in building construction. The scope islimited to recommendations related to the use and installationof IRCCS, including a surface(s) having a far-infrared emit-tance of 0.25 or less that is sprayed or painted.2Some examplesthat this practice i

4、s intended to address include: (1) lowemittance surfaces in vented building envelope cavities in-tended to retard radiant transfer across the vented airspace; (2)low emittance surfaces at interior building surfaces intended toretard radiant transfer to or from building inhabitants; and (3)low emitta

5、nce surfaces at interior building surfaces intended toreduce radiant transfer to or from heating or cooling systems.See Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 for typical applications.1.2 This practice covers the installation process from pre-installation inspection through post-installation. It does notcover the produc

Significance and Use4.1 This practice recognizes that effectiveness, safety, anddurability of an IRCCS depends not only on the quality of thematerials, but also on the proper installation.4.2 Improper installation of an IRCCS will redu

Specific hazards that can result from improperinstallation include: heat buildup in recessed lighting fixtures, deterioration of failure of electrical wiring

21、 components, anddeterioration of wood structures and paint failure due tomoisture accumulation.4.3 This practice provides recommendations for the instal-lation of IRCCS materials in a safe and effective manner.Actual conditions in existing buildings will vary greatly.Insome cases additional care sho

The user should consult the manu-facturer for recommended application methods.5. Safety Precautions5.1 T

Pre-Installation Inspection and Preparation6.1 Inspections:6.1.1 Inspect the roof, walls, ceilings, and floors to identifyareas where previous or existing moisture problems havecaused paint peeling, warpage, stain, visible fungus growth,r

26、otting, or other structural damage. Do not apply IRCCS insuch areas until the owner has been informed and has certifiedthese conditions have been corrected and their source(s)eliminated.6.1.2 In areas where the IRCCS is to be applied, compo-nents of the electrical system shall be in good condition.

27、Ifthere is reason to believe the electrical system is faulty, do notapply the IRCCS in such areas until the owner has beeninformed and qualified inspection and repair have been per-formed.NOTE 1The CPSC Product Safety Fact Sheet No. 18 has identified thefollowing signs of potential electrical defici

Useful safety information is alsocontained in the NFPA 54 and NFPA 211.6.1.3 In area

29、s where an IRCCS is to be applied, theapplicator shall locate and plan the application around venti-lation openings. The applicator shall not apply the IRCCS in away that may plug or otherwise obstruct existing ventilationopenings.6.2 Preparations:6.2.1 All electrical wiring at or near the IRCCS app
