Scope1.1 This specification covers hydraulic

3、 hydrated lime forstructural purposes.1.2 Hydraulic hydrated lime may be used in the scratch orbrown coat of plaster, stucco, mortar, or in portland-cementconcrete either as blend, amendment, or admixture.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard.1.4 The following p

Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 hydraulic hydrated limethe hydrated dry cementi-tious product obtained by calcining a limestone containingsilica and alumina, or a synthetic mixture of similar composi-tion, to a temperature short of incipient fusion so as to formsufficient free lim

9、e (CaO) to permit hydration and at the sametime leaving unhydrated sufficient calcium silicates to give thedry powder, meeting the requirements herein prescribed, itshydraulic properties.NOTE 1The purchaser may increase the hydraulicity by the additionof pulverized portland cement clinker, or a pulv

10、erized pozzolan, eithernatural or artificial.3.1.1.1 high calcium hydraulic hydrated limea lime thatcontains not more than 5 % magnesium oxide (of the nonvola-tile portion).3.1.1.2 magnesium hydraulic hydrated lime a lime con-taining more than 5 % magnesium oxide (of the nonvolatileportion).4. Fineness5.1 The sample shall leave a residue of not more than 0.5 %on a No. 30 (600-m) sieve and not more

15、 than 10 % on a No.200 (75-m) sieve when tested as described in 10.2.6. Time of Setting6.1 The neat lime paste mixed to normal consistency shallnot develop an initial set in less than2hasdetermined by theGillmore needle method (see 10.4). Final set shall be attainedwithin 24 h.7. Soundness7.1 The ne

16、at bars when made, stored, and autoclaved asdescribed in 10.5 shall not have an expansion of more than1.0 %.8. Compressive Strength8.1 The average compressive strength of not less than three2-in. (50-mm) cubes, made, stored, and tested in accordancewith 10.6, shall be not less than 250 psi (1.7 MPa)

17、 at the ageof 7 days. The average strength attained at 28 days shall be notless than 500 psi (3.4 MPa).9. Sampling9.1 Each sample selected for purpose of tests shall weigh atleast 5 lb (2.3 kg) and shall represent not more than 50 000 lb(22 680 kg). If only one sample is taken it shall weigh at leas

18、t10 lb (4.5 kg).9.2 The sample shall be given a preliminary sieving bybeing passed through a No. 20 (850-m) sieve in order tothoroughly mix the sample, break up lumps, and removeforeign materials.9.3 Samples shall be shipped and stored in airtight, mois-tureproof containers.10. Test Methods:10.1 Che

19、mical Analysis:10.1.1 Analyses for chemical composition shall be carriedout in accordance with Test Methods C25.10.2 Fineness:10.2.1 ApparatusThe No. 30 (600-m) and No. 200(75-m) sieves shall conform to Specification E11.10.2.2 ProcedurePlace a 100-g sample of the material asreceived on a No. 30 (60

20、0-m) sieve nested above a No. 200(75-m) sieve. Wash the material by means of a stream ofwater from a faucet (Note 2). Continue the washing until thewater coming through the sieve is clear, but in no case shall thewashing be continued for more than 15 min (Note 3). Dry theresidue on both sieves to co

21、nstant weight at a temperaturebetween 212 and 248 F (100 and 120 C). Calculate theweights of material retained as a percentage of the originalsample, the weight of the material retained on the No. 30 sievebeing added to the weight of the material retained on the No.200 sieve to obtain the correct we

22、ight of the material retainedon the No. 200 sieve. For additional information, also see TestMethod C 184.NOTE 2A piece of rubber tubing attached to a water faucet may beused for the washing. The velocity of the water, which may be increasedby pinching the tubing, shall not be sufficient to cause any

23、 splashing of thesample over the sides of the sieve.NOTE 3Care shall be taken not to let water accumulate on the No. 200(75-m) sieve, because the openings will become clogged and theoperation cannot be completed in 15 min.10.3 Normal Consistency:10.3.1 Determine normal consistency by the Vicat appar

24、atusin accordance with Test Method C 187.10.4 Time of Setting:10.4.1 Determine time of setting by the Gillmore needlemethod in accordance with Test Method C 266.10.5 Autoclave Expansion:10.5.1 Determine autoclave expansion in accordance withTest Method C 151, with the following modifications:10.5.1.

25、1 The material used in preparing the test specimensshall be a blend of 75 weight % of the hydraulic lime to betested with 25 weight % of a portland cement conforming toType I of Specification C 150.10.5.1.2 Dry-mix the hydraulic lime and portland cementbefore water is added, and prepare the paste in

26、 accordance withTest Method C 151.10.5.1.3 Remove the bars from the mold when they are 486 2 h old, measure, and return them to the moist closet. When7 days old, 5 days after removing from the mold, autoclavethem in the usual manner. For the purpose of this test, considerthe difference in length of

27、the test specimens at the 48-h periodand after autoclaving as the autoclave expansion.10.6 Compressive Strength:10.6.1 Apparatus:10.6.1.1 Scales and Weights, Sieves, Glass Graduates,Specimen Molds, Tamper, Trowel, and Testing Machine,inaccordance with Test Method C 109/C 109M.10.6.1.2 Flow Table, co

28、nforming to the requirements ofSpecification C 230.10.6.1.3 Mixing Apparatus, conforming to the requirementsof Practice C 305.10.6.2 Standard SandUse 2030 sand meeting the re-quirements of Specification C 778.10.6.3 Proportions for Standard Mortar The mortar shallconsist of 1 part of hydraulic hydra

29、ted lime to 3 parts ofstandard Ottawa sand, by weight. The quantity of watermeasured in millilitres shall be such as to produce a flow of 100to 115 as determined by the flow table.10.6.4 Preparation of Standard Mortar Mix the mortar inaccordance with Section 6 of Practice C 305, using 500 g ofhydrau

30、lic lime and 1500 g of standard Ottawa sand with thenecessary water to give the desired flow.10.6.5 Determination of FlowDetermine the flow in ac-cordance with Section 8.3 of Test Method C 109/C 109M.10.6.6 Molding of Test Specimens:10.6.6.1 Prepare molds in accordance with Section 7 of TestMethod C

31、 109/C 109M.10.6.6.2 The temperature of the air in the vicinity of themixing slab and of the dry materials, molds, base plates, andmixing bowl, shall be maintained between 68 and 81.5 F (20and 27.5 C). The temperature of the mixing water, moistcloset or moist room, and water in the storage tank shal

32、l notC 141 97 (2005)2vary from 73.4 F (23 C) by more than 6 3F(6 1.7 C). Themoist closet or moist room shall be so constructed as to providestorage facilities for test specimens at a relative humidity of notless than 90 %.10.6.6.3 Mold test specimens in accordance with 8.4 of TestMethod C 109/C 109M

33、.10.6.7 Storage of Test SpecimensKeep all test specimens,immediately after molding, in the molds on plane plates in adamp closet, maintained at a relative humidity of 90 % ormore, for from 48 to 52 h in such a manner that the uppersurfaces are exposed to the moist air. Then remove thespecimens from

34、the molds and place in the air of the laboratoryfor 5 days in such a manner as to allow free circulation of airaround at least 5 faces of the specimens. At the age of 7 daysimmerse the specimens for the 28-day tests in saturated limewater in storage tanks of noncorrodible materials.10.6.8 Testing of

35、 Specimens:10.6.8.1 Test the specimens for 7-day and 28-day strengthsafter removal from storage as described in 10.6.7.10.6.8.2 The remainder of the testing procedure shall be inaccordance with 8.6 and Section 9 of Test Method C 109/C 109M.10.6.9 Faulty SpecimensSpecimens that are manifestlyfaulty o

36、r that give strengths differing by more than 15 % fromthe average value of all test specimens made from the samesample and tested at the same period, shall not be considered indetermining the compressive strength.11. Storage11.1 The hydraulic hydrated lime shall be stored in such amanner as to permi

37、t easy access for proper inspection andidentification of each shipment, and in a suitable weathertightbuilding that will protect the hydraulic hydrated lime fromdamage.12. Inspection12.1 Every facility shall be provided the purchaser forsampling and inspection either at the place of manufacture orat

38、 the destination, as may be specified by the purchaser.13. Rejection13.1 ProductThe hydraulic hydrated lime may be rejectedif it fails to meet any of the requirements of this specification.However, hydraulic hydrated lime failing to meet the 7-dayrequirements may be held awaiting the result of the 2

39、8-daytests before rejection. At least 10 days from the time ofsampling shall be allowed for completion of the 7-day test, andat least 31 days shall be allowed for completion of the 28-daytest.13.2 PackagingPackages varying more than 10 % fromthe weight marked thereon may be rejected, and if the aver

40、ageweight of packages in any shipment, as shown by weighing 50packages taken at random, is less than the weight markedthereon, the entire shipment may be rejected.14. Packaging and Marking14.1 The hydraulic hydrated lime shall be delivered insuitable containers with the brand and name of the manufac

41、-turer and the net weight plainly marked thereon. All packagesshall be in good condition at the time of inspection.15.
