Summary of Test Method4.1 The tank shall be set in its installed position. Requiredaccessories and pipes shall be installed. All op
9、enings and pipesentering the tank shall be plugged. A vacuum shall be drawnand vacuum retention over a specified time period is used todetermine the acceptability of the tank and installed accesso-ries.5. Significance and Use5.1 This is not a routine test. The values recorded areapplicable only to t
10、he tank being tested and at the time oftesting. This test is intended only to demonstrate the sealingeffectiveness of the installed system. Structural design of thetank is defined or demonstrated within the scope of otherapplicable specifications and test methods, including Specifi-cation C1227.6. E
11、quipment Required6.1 A vacuum device is required and shall be capable ofreliably drawing the required vacuum. Suitable vacuum de-vices include vane- and venturi-type pumps, vehicle vacuumsystems, and high-performance shop-style vacuum cleaners.6.2 A vacuum measuring device is required and shall be a
12、vacuum gauge, mercury manometer, or water manometeraccurate to 0.1 in. (2.5 mm) Hg 1.4 in. (35 mm) H2O. If agauge is used, it shall be in current calibration to standardstraceable to NIST and shall have a range of no more than 10 in.(254 mm) Hg.6.3 Suitable pipes (or pipe stubs), pipe plugs, and pro
13、perblocking for same shall be used. If temporary stubs are used,they shall be of the same size and type of pipe as that to be usedin the final installation of the system, and shall be placed in thesame orientation as required by the final installation of thesystem.1This test method is under the juri

Preparation of the System7.1 The tank shall be placed into its final installed position.All section joints of the tank shall be sealed as required by themanufacturer.7.2 All pipes and
17、 conduits entering the tank shall beinstalled and temporarily plugged, taking care to securely bracethe pipes and plugs to prevent them from being drawn into thetank.7.3 Risers and their lids shall be installed to finished leveland sealed as required by the manufacturer.8. Procedure8.1 The test vacu
18、um shall be introduced either through oneof the risers or through an entry pipe, as long as either is sealedagainst loss of vacuum in accordance with the manufacturersrecommendations.8.2 A vacuum of 4 in. (102 mm) Hg 54 in. (1385 mm)H2O shall be drawn on the system, the valve on the vacuumline of th
19、e test head closed, and the vacuum pump shut off.8.3 The system shall pass if the vacuum is maintained for 5min. Should the negative pressure fall below 4 in. (102 mm)Hg during the test, the pressure shall be returned to 4 in. (102mm) Hg and the test time restarted. This shall not be prohibitedand t
20、he system shall be deemed acceptable if it passes therequirements on subsequent testing.8.4 If the installed system fails the test, the system shall notbe prohibited from being repaired and retested. Repairs shall bemade by the manufacturers recommended method.9. Report9.1 At the conclusion of the t
21、est, a report shall be recordedand shall include at a minimum: Date, time, and location of thetest; staff performing test and anyone else present; test equip-ment used and verification of calibration (as required); testset-up; test results and comments; and a positive statement asto the conformance
22、of the system with this test method.9.2 The test report shall be presented to the system owner ortheir representative, and a copy shall be retained by theindividual performing the test.10. Precision and Bias10.1 No justifiable statement can be made either on theprecision or bias of this procedure, s
