18、 be a challenging and, at times, an uncomfortable experience. However, it can also be rewarding to the development needs of the region and your career. We have done some researches for this issue and want to share with you before you apply for a job and live in a developing country. 1First, you will

19、 find different customs, religions and cultures. Keep in mind that your way may not be the only way or even the “right“ way of communicating across cultural and, 2in some cases, language barriers can be frustrating. You will experience cultural beliefs which may be very different to your own, from v

20、arying perspectives on gender, different working styles through to religious practices. 3The tip for you is to investigate the country you are applying to before you go understand the importance of religion, the status of women, hierarchy, common work practices etc. Second, regardless of whether you

21、r assignment is in an urban, industrial or rural area, 4you should expect basic living conditions. This could quite likely mean limited electricity and hot water, shared facilities including bathroom and toilet, and probably mosquitoes and other “wild“ life. 5You may have to do without some of the e

22、ntertainment you are used to DVDs, downloading, pubs and bars. The tip is to prepare entertainment or luxuries you cannot live without before you go, for example, sporting equipment, a fully loaded e-book reader, bed sheets or 50+ sun cream. 6Third, one of the most important things to consider is wh

23、ether you can survive without your family and friends. If you cant bear the thought of being separated from your family, partner, boyfriend or girlfriend for months at a time then you need to consider whether to apply such a job or think of other ways in which you can get support while in country. 24、he tip is to get involved in country with new support networks7join sporting groups, and attend social events with your colleagues. Fourth, just like starting a new job and working in a new workplace will be a new and sometimes daunting experience. 8There may be different working hours, informal com

25、munication styles, a lack of resources, more responsibility than you are used to and complex social issues such as gender inequality and corruption. The tip is to research the country and understand that what you will experience when working within the current environment not changing it overnight,

26、9and deal with these difficulties with a flexible attitude. Fifth and the last, getting sick is a part of living and working in developing countries. A lot of support is provided before, during and after your application to ensure you stay as healthy as possible (vaccinations, personalized medical k
