Scope1.1 This specification covers the composition and physicalproperties

3、of mineral fiber insulation board used above struc-tural roof decks as a base for built-up roofing and single plymembrane systems in building construction.1.2 The use of thermal insulation materials covered by thisspecification may be regulated by building codes or otheragencies that address fire pe

4、rformance, or both. The fireperformance of the material should be addressed throughstandard fire test methods established by the appropriategoverning documents.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. the values given in parentheses are forinformation only.1.4 Thi

Materials and Manufacture5.1 Mineral fiber roof insulation board shall consist ofmineral fibers with an organic resin or other suitable binder.5.2 For built-up roofing or polymer modified bitumen sys

15、-tems the board shall be faced during manufacture on onesurface with a cover adequate for the application of Specifica-tion D 312 asphalt or Specification D 450 coal-tar pitchbuilt-up roofing.5.3 For single ply membrane systems the board may befaced or unfaced. For mechanically fastened single ply m

16、em-brane systems the board may be faced or unfaced. For adheredsingle ply membrane systems the board shall be faced duringmanufacture on one surface with a cover adequate for theapplication of the adhesive used to secure the single plymembrane.6. Physical Properties6.1 The average thermal resistance

17、, R, of specimenssampled in accordance with Practice C 390 shall be as speci-fied by the manufacturer.6.2 Nominal thickness required to obtain the specifiedresistance or conductance shall be as stated by the manufac-turer.6.3 Roof insulation boards shall have the limiting propertyvalues shown in Tab

18、le 1.7. Dimensions and Tolerances7.1 The dimensions shall be as agreed upon between thepurchaser and manufacturer. Tolerances shall be as follows:Tolerance, in. (mm)Long dimension 614 (6)Short dimension 614 (6)Thickness 618 (3)The long and short dimension tolerances in this section arefor individual

19、 boards. The tolerance for long and short dimen-sion averages for at least 20 boards shall be 6116 in. (2 mm).7.2 Board squareness shall be within required tolerance ifthe two diagonal measurements of the board differ by no morethan14 in. (6 mm).7.3 Board flatness shall be within required tolerance

20、if,when board is placed concave side up, the average distancebetween a flat supporting surface and the bottom board surfaceat the corners does not exceed516 in. (8 mm) over atemperature range from 20 to 140F (7 to 60C). Maximumdistance at an individual corner shall not exceed916 in. (14mm).7.4 The t

21、hermal resistance of any single specimen shall notbe more than 10 % below the value specified by the manufac-turer.7.5 Mass per unit area of any board, lb/ft2(kg/m2) shall bewithin 10 % of the value specified by the manufacturer.Average mass per unit area of at least 20 boards shall be within5 % of

22、the value specified by the manufacturer.8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 Insulation boards shall not have visible defects that willadversely affect service qualities.9. Sampling9.1 Sampling for qualification tests, if required, shall be inaccordance with Practice C 390. Qualification tests

23、will beconducted on the physical requirements in 6.1 and Table 1.9.2 Sampling for inspection tests, if required, shall be inaccordance with Practice C 390. Inspection requirements aredimensions (Section 7) plus any other properties as agreedupon between the purchaser and manufacturer.10. Specimen Pr

24、eparation10.1 Specimens for all tests shall include any factory-applied cover. Take care that the cover is not partially detachedin the process of cutting specimens.10.2 Unless otherwise specified, condition samples prior tocutting specimens for at least 12 h at 73 6 2F (24 6 1C), 506 5 % relative h

25、umidity before testing.11. Test Methods11.1 Thermal ResistanceTest Method C 177, C 518, orTest Method C 1363 at a mean temperature of 75 6 2F (24 61C) and 40F (22C) minimum temperature gradient or at amean temperature agreed upon between the purchaser andmanufacturer.11.2 Compressive ResistanceTest

26、Method C 165, Proce-dure A. Crosshead speed shall be 0.16 0.01 in. (2.5 6 0.25mm) for each 1 in. (25.4 mm) of specimen thickness.11.3 Tensile Strength Perpendicular to the Board SurfaceTest Methods C 209, see Test Conditions and Tensile StrengthPerpendicular to Surface, except that the specimens sha

27、ll be 6in. by 6 in. (150 mm by 150 mm).11.4 Breaking Load Test Methods C 203, Method I,Procedure D. Specimen width shall be 6 in. (152 mm) andsupport span shall be 10 in. (254 mm).11.5 Water Absorption Test Methods C 209 (see WaterAbsorption section). When material is thicker than 1.0 in., splitthe

28、material to give a specimen thickness of 1.00 6 0.03 in.The test specimen shall include the faced side of the materialif applicable. 33、supplied in the manufacturers standard commercialpackages.13.2 MarkingUnless otherwise specified, each packageshall be marked with the material name, manufacturers nameor trademark, board dimensions, number of pieces, coveragearea of the material in the package, and thermal resistance orconductance.
