Scope1.1 This specification covers the composition and physical prop

3、erties for perlite thermal insulation board used principally abovestructural roof decks and as a base for built-up, modified, and elastomeric membrane roofing in building construction.1.2 When adopted by an authority having jurisdiction, codes that address fire properties in many applications regula

4、te the useof the thermal insulation materials covered by this specification. Fire properties are controlled by job, project, or otherspecifications where codes or government regulations do not apply.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parenth

5、eses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. United States14.1.2 Type 2, Roof Cover or Recover BoardThis is used primarily as a field-applied cover board over other roof

15、insulationsor in reroofing applications. The product is also available to manufacturers of laminated rigid foam products as specified inSpecification C1289, Type III.4.1.3 Type 3, Roof Cover or Recover BoardA perlite based cover board that is field applied over other roof insulations or inre-roofing

16、 and recover applications. The product is also available to manufacturers of laminated rigid foam products as specifiedin Specification C1289, Type III.5. Ordering Information5.1 Orders shall at least include the following information:5.1.1 Title and designation Specification C728.5.1.2 Product name

17、, nominal thickness and dimensions.5.1.3 Quantity of material ordered.5.1.4 Manufacturers name, address, and telephone number.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 CompositionThe basic material of the insulation board shall be perlite expanded by the application of heat to form glassy,cellular aggregates.

18、 The insulation and cover board shall be composed of expanded perlite and fibers formed into rigid, flat,rectangular units with a suitable sizing material incorporated in the product. A facing or coating is potentially present on one orboth surfaces to prevent excessive hot bitumen strike-in or adhe

19、sive absorption during roofing installation.6.2 LaminationThe finished board is either single-ply or multiple-ply. When multiple-ply boards are supplied, a suitableadhesive shall be used to join the plies.7. Physical Properties7.1 Thermal ResistancePerlite thermal insulation boards and cover shall c

In case ofrejection, the seller shall have the right to reinspect the rejected shipment and resubmit the lot after removal of that portion notconforming to the specified requirements.14.
