1、Designation: D 3409 93 (Reapproved 2002)e1Standard Test Method forAdhesion of Asphalt-Roof Cement to Damp, Wet, orUnderwater Surfaces1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 3409; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of

2、 revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.e1NOTEEditorially switched from inch/pound dominant to SI dominant in April 2002.1. Scope1.1 This test met

3、hod covers the determination of the adhe-sion of asphalt roofing cements to damp, wet, or underwatersurfaces.1.2 The values in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values in parentheses are for information only.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, a

It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2. Summary of Test Method2.1 A metal lid is covered with a coating of asphalt roofingcement and i

5、mmersed in water. A similar metal lid which hasbeen flamed and wet with water is pressed on the asphalticsurface. The degree of adhesion is evaluated by estimating thepercentage of area covered by the cement on the water-wetflamed metal lid.3. Significance and Use3.1 This test method offers a means

6、of evaluating theadhesive properties of asphalt roofing cements used to repairroofs under adverse conditions. Weathered roof surfaces areeasily coated with asphalt roofing cements when they are dry, however when wet or during a rain, asphalt roofing cementsmay not adhere readily to water-wet surfaces

When the two lids are pressed together, approxi-mately4gofthe5-gsample will be contained between the surfaces.
