1、Designation: D 4101 08Standard Specification forPolypropylene Injection and Extrusion Materials1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 4101; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision.

Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.INTRODUCTIONThis specification is not intended for the selectio

3、n of materials but only as a means to call out plasticmaterials to be used for the manufacture of parts. The selection of these materials is to be made bypersonnel with expertise in the plastics field where the environment, inherent properties of thematerials, performance of the part, part design, m

4、anufacturing process, and economics are considered.1. Scope*1.1 This specification covers polypropylene materials suit-able for injection molding and extrusion. Polymers consist ofhomopolymer, copolymers, and elastomer compounded with orwithout the addition of impact modifiers (ethylene-propylenerub

5、ber, polyisobutylene rubber, and butyl rubber), colorants,stabilizers, lubricants, or reinforcements.1.2 This specification allows for the use of those polypro-pylene materials that can be recycled, reconstituted, andreground, provided that: (1) the requirements as stated in thisspecification are me

6、t, and (2) the material has not beenmodified in any way to alter its conformance to food contactregulations or similar requirements. The proportions of re-cycled, reconstituted, and reground material used, as well asthe nature and the amount of any contaminant, cannot bepractically covered in this s

7、pecification. It is the responsibilityof the supplier and the buyer of recycled, reconstituted, andreground materials to ensure compliance. (See Guide D 7209.)1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard.NOTE 1The properties included in this specification are those re-quired t

8、o identify the compositions covered. There may be other require-ments necessary to identify particular characteristics important to specificapplications. 35、men test area isbroken into two or more pieces, with sharp edges and showsalmost no plastic flow.3.2.3 cooling time, nthe time in which the material is inthe closed mold with no pressure applied.3.2.4 cycle time, nthe time required to complete a fullinjection molding cycle, including injection time,

36、 cooling time,and mold open time.3.2.5 ductile brittle transition temperature, nthe tempera-ture at which a 80% of the specimens exhibit ductile failure3.2.6 ductile failure, none where the specimen deformsplastically before fracturing. Classification4.1 Unreinforced polypropylene materials are classified intogroups according to bas

44、ic composition. These groups aresubdivided into classes and grades, as shown in Table PP.NOTE 3An example of this classification system is as follows. Thedesignation PP0113 would indicate: PP = polypropylene, as found inTerminology D 1600, 01 (group) = homopolymer, 1 (class) = generalpurpose, and 3

45、(grade) = with requirements given in Table PP.4.1.1 To facilitate the incorporation of future or specialmaterials not covered by Table PP, the “other/unspecified”category for group (00), class (0), and grade (0) is shown on thetable with the basic properties to be obtained from Table A,Table B, Tabl
