Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers thermoplastic comp

3、osite pipe,fittings and a joining system for use in gravity flow, nonpres-sure sanitary sewer, and storm drain installations. The pipe andfittings are made of ABS or PVC plastic material. Recom-mended installation practices are referenced in Appendix X1.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are

4、to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.3 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to thetest method portion, Section 10, of this specification: Thisstandard do

United States1acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene isABS and the abbreviation forpoly(vinyl chloride) is PVC.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS)plastics con-taining polymers or blends of polymers, or both,

17、 in which theminimum butadiene content is 6 %; the minimum acrylonitrilecontent is 15 %; the minimum styrene or substituted styrenecontent, or both, is 15 %; and the maximum content of all othermonomers is not more than 5 %, plus lubricants, stabilizers,and colorants.3.2.2 poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC

18、)plastic compounds con-taining poly(vinyl chloride) homopolymer, and such additivesas stabilizers, lubricants, processing aids, impact improvers,and colorants as needed to provide the required processing andtoughness characteristics.4. Classification4.1 Pipe produced in accordance with this specific

19、ation shallbe classified as ABS composite pipe or PVC composite pipebased on plastic materials used in manufacture.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 ABS composite pipe or PVC composite pipe shallconsist of two concentric thermoplastic tubes integrally bracedacross the annulus. The resultant annular sp

20、ace is filled toprovide continuous support between the inner and outer tubes.5.2 CompoundsThe ABS and PVC composite pipe andfittings shall be produced from the following compounds:5.2.1 ABSThe pipe shall be made from a rigidABS plasticand shall meet or exceed the requirements of SpecificationD3965 f

21、or a minimum cell classification of 1-0-2-2-3. Thefittings shall be made from ABS plastic and shall meet orexceed the requirements of Specification D3965 for cellclassifications of 1-0-2-2-3 or 4-2-2-2-2. Clean rework ABS,generated from the manufacturers own pipe extrusion andfittings may be used by

22、 the same manufacturer, provided thatthe pipe and fittings produced meet all the requirements of thisspecification.5.2.2 PVCThe thermoplastic material shall be a rigid PVCplastic and shall meet or exceed the requirements of Specifi-cation D1784, for a minimum cell classification of 12454 or ofSpecif

23、ication D4396, for a minimum cell classification of11432. Homopolymer PVC compounds that have higher cellclassifications, because one or more properties are superior tothose of the specified compounds, are also acceptable. Cleanrework PVC, generated from the manufacturers own pipe andfittings produc

24、tion may be used by the same manufacturerprovided that the pipe and fittings produced meet all therequirements of this specification.5.3 The other component shall be portland cement-perliteconcrete or other inert filler material exhibiting the samedegree of performance, that essentially fills the tr

25、uss annulus toform a composite pipe that meets the requirements of thisspecification.5.4 GasketsElastomeric seals (gaskets) shall comply withrequirements described in Specifications F477 and F913.NOTE 1Gasket joints manufactured for PVC composite pipe only.5.5 LubricantsThe lubricant used for the as

26、sembly ofgasket joints shall have no detrimental effect on the gasket oron the pipe.6. Performance Requirements6.1 Pipe StiffnessPipe tested in accordance with 10.2 shallhave a minimum pipe stiffness of 200 lb/in./in. (1380 kPa) at5 % deflection.6.2 Pipe DeflectionPipe tested in accordance with 10.2

27、shall deflect a minimum of 7.5 % without rupture of inner orouter wall.NOTE 2The purpose of the quality control tests in 6.1 and 6.2 is tofurnish test results for a consumer only upon his request at the time oforder and prior to shipment from the point of manufacture.6.3 Acid ConditioningPipe tested

28、 in accordance with 10.3shall meet the requirements of 6.1 and 6.2.NOTE 3This test is intended only for use as a qualification test, not foruse as a simulated service test nor a quality control test.6.4 Joint Tightness:6.4.1 Solvent Cement JointsPipe and fittings attached tothe pipe shall show no si

29、gns of leakage when tested inaccordance with 10.4.1 (See Note 3).6.4.2 Gasket Joints for PVC Composite PipeJoints shallshow no signs of leakage when tested in accordance with10.4.2 (See Note 3).6.5 Extrusion QualityWhen tested in accordance with10.5, PVC extruded pipe tubes shall not flake or disint

30、egrate.NOTE 4This test is intended for use as a quality control test, not foruse as a simulated service test.7. Other Requirements7.1 Joints and Fittings as shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, shallbe molded or fabricated from materials described in Section 5.FIG. 1 Assembly of JointsD2680 01 (2014)2Joints

31、and fittings may be factory-attached to the pipe orfurnished loose, at the option of the purchaser.7.2 Solvent Cement Joints:7.2.1 Solvent Cement JointIn the solvent cement joint, thepipe spigot wedges into the tapered socket and the surfacesfuse together.7.2.2 ABS Solvent Cement JointsPrimer for pr

32、iming sol-vent cemented joints shall be MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) andthe cement shall be MEK containing a minimum of 20 % byweight of dissolved ABS as described in 5.2.1. The cementviscosity when measured in accordance with Method D of TestMethod D1084 at 70 to 75 F (21 to 23C) with a No. 5 ZahnCup,

33、 shall fall within a range of 60 to 80 s. The solids contentof the cement shall be measured in accordance with Specifi-cation D2235.7.2.3 PVC Solvent Cement JointsThe cement shall com-ply with Specification D2564, with the exception that theminimum resin content shall be 16 % and minimum viscositysh

34、all be 3500 cP (3500 mPas).7.2.4 Transition Joints (ABS to PVC) Whenever a transi-tion joint is to be assembled, the cement shall comply withSpecification D3138.(WarningSolvent cements for plasticFIG. 2 Fittings (see Tables 5 and 6 for dimensions)D2680 01 (2014)3pipe are made from flammable liquids

35、and should be kept awayfrom all sources of ignition. Good ventilation should bemaintained to reduce fire hazard and to minimize breathing ofsolvent vapors. Avoid contact of cement with skin and eyes.Refer to Practice F402 for additional information.)NOTE 5Unless otherwise specified, it is permissibl

36、e to use transitionjoints in accordance with this specification and Specification D3138.7.3 Elastomeric (Gasket) Joints for PVC Composite Pipe:7.3.1 Elastomeric joints shall be designed so that whenassembled, the gasket will be compressed in the joint to forma positive seal.7.3.2 The joint shall be

37、designed to avoid displacement ofthe gasket when assembled in accordance with the manufac-turers recommendation.7.3.3 The assembly of joints shall be in accordance with themanufacturers recommendation.8. Dimensions8.1 Diameters and ThicknessThe pipe shall conform tothe dimensions and tolerances show

38、n in Table 1 for ABScomposite pipe, and Table 2 for PVC composite pipe, whenmeasured in accordance with 10.6.1 and 10.6.2.8.2 Laying LengthPipe shall be furnished in standard 1212ft (3.82 m) lengths with a tolerance of 1 in. (25 mm) whenmeasured in accordance 10.6.1. There is no limit for plusvariat

Other lengths may be provided, if agreed upon by thepurchaser and the seller.8.3 StraightnessPipe intended to be straight shall have amaximum deviation from straightness of116 in./ft (4.85 mm/m)of length, when measured in accordance with 10.6.1.8.4 End SquarenessPipe ends shall be cut square to

40、 thelongitudinal axis as provided in Table 3, when measured inaccordance with 10.6.3.8.5 Joint Couplings, shall conform to the dimensions shownin Table 4, when measured in accordance with 10.6.1.8.6 Fittings:8.6.1 Molded FittingsThe wall thickness of the water wayshall be no less than the respective

41、 minimum thickness listed inTable 5. The socket dimensions and respective wall thicknessshall conform to Table 4. The dimensions and wall thicknessesshall be determined in accordance with 10.6.1.8.6.2 Fabricated FittingsFabricated fittings shall be con-sidered satisfactory if made from pipe and mold

42、ed fittingsmeeting the requirements of this specification.8.6.3 The spur (lateral) socket shall be suitable for attachingthe respectiveABS or PVC solid wall pipe or adapters shall befurnished for attaching other types of pipes.9. Workmanship9.1 The inner and outer surfaces of the pipe, joints, andfi

43、ttings shall be homogeneous throughout and free from visiblecracks, holes, foreign inclusions, and other injurious defects.The pipe, joints, and fittings shall be as uniform as commer-cially practicable in other physical properties.10. Test Methods10.1 Conditioning:10.1.1 Referee TestingWhen conditi

44、oning is required forreferee tests, condition the specimens in accordance withProcedureAof Methods D618 at 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and50 6 5 % relative humidity for not less than 40 h prior to test.Conduct tests under the same conditions of temperature andhumidity, unless otherwise specified.10.1.2 Qu
