1、Designation: D5636/D5636M 94 (Reapproved 2017)Standard Test Method forLow Temperature Unrolling of Felt or Sheet Roofing andWaterproofing Materials1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D5636/D5636M; the number immediately following the designation indicates theyear of original adoptio

2、n or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of lastreapproval. A superscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers the procedure for the physicaltesting and analysis

3、of surface cracking due to low temperatureunrolling of roofing composed of bituminous impregnated feltsand reinforced polymer modified bituminous sheet materials. These products may employ various surfacing materials on oneside.1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be reg

4、arded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in non-conformancewith the standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafe

It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.4 This international standard was developed in accor-dance with internati

Summary of Test Method4.1 The felt or sheet roofing or waterproofing material roll istemperature conditioned. Specimens are then taken from theroll, w

8、rapped around a mandrel, temperature conditioned, unrolled, and inspected for cracking.5. Significance and Use5.1 Since felts or sheet roofing or waterproofing materialsare brought to the roof in a roll and unrolled, this test methodsimulates felt or membrane behavior under actual field condi-tions d

9、uring the unrolling process.5.2 This test method is designed to aid those interested inthe physical properties of roofing and waterproofing felts andsheet materials.5.3 This test method enables a researcher to measure therelative behavior of low temperature unrolling of roofing andwaterproofing felt

10、 or sheet materials under laboratory condi-tions.5.4 The data obtained from this test method will not permitservice life prediction or the ability of the material to beinstalled at the tested temperature. Unrolling capabilities areimportant during application, and the temperature at the time ofunrol

11、ling is believed to affect the performance of roofing andwaterproofing membranes. However, the actual link betweenthe test data and performance is unknown and is dependent onthe materials and exposure.6. Apparatus6.1 The mandrel for the test procedure is a 680 mm 3.125in. outer diameter (Schedule 30

12、) PVC pipe, a minimum 6250mm 10.0 in. in length.7. Test Method7.1 Unrolling at Low TemperaturesThis test method de-termines the temperature at which no cracking is observed inthe felt or sheet roofing or waterproofing materials afterunrolling at the test temperature from a 680 mm 3.125 in.diameter m

13、andrel.7.2 Sampling:7.2.1 The specimens are to be taken from a roll of roofing orwaterproofing materials conditioned at 23 6 3C1This test method is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee D08 on Roofingand Waterproofing and is the direct responsibility of Subcommittee D08.20 onRoofing Membrane Syst

Nospecimens are to be taken closer than 61.22 m 4 ft. from theleading edge or closer than 6150 mm 6 in. from the side ofthe roll.7.2.2 Cut four specimens from the roll in the longitudinaldirection. The specimens shall be 6250 mm (63 mm) 10 in.6 18 in. wide by 6450 mm (63 mm) 18 in. 618 in.

Unroll thespecimen onto a horizontal surface, keeping the material flatagainst the surface. Time allowance for removal from refrig-erated unit to unrolling is 30 s, and time allowance

Consider any visible surfaceruptures as a failure.8.4 Repeat the procedure until the lowest temperature atwhich none of the specimens show cracking is achieved.Allowthe refrigeration unit to

Report9.1 Report complete specimen identification and the lowesttemperature where cracking is not evident to the unaided eye.Tested specimens may not be reused for successive testing atlower or higher temperatures. For the

Precision and Bias10.1 No statement is made about either the precision or biasof Test Method D5636/D5636M for measuring low tempera-ture unrolling since the result merely state
