3、e minimum installation recommen-dations for fully adhered, hot-applied reinforced waterproofingsystems on vertical and low-slope (plaza deck) surfaces.1.2 For the purpose of this guide, the substrate is assumed tobe concrete or masonry, structurally sound, able to accept theweight of anticipated loa
4、ds, and meets the local building coderequirements. Similarly, all components of the waterproofingsystem are assumed to comply with any federal, state, and localenvironmental regulations that may be in effect at the time ofinstallation. Expansion joints, insulation, drainage layers, andoverburden are
5、 beyond the scope of this guide.1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. Significance and Use5.1 This guide outlines general procedures and precautionsfor the application of fully adhered hot-applied built-up rein-forced waterproofi
24、ng systems.5.2 This guide is not all inclusive and is intended only tosupplement detailed instructions from designers, and the rec-ommendations of manufacturers. Manufacturers of some of thesystems addressed by this guide require proprietary productsand special procedures not described in this guide
25、. Manufac-turers recommendations should therefore be considered in theapplication of this guide.5.3 For design guidelines, consult Guide C981.6. Delivery of Materials6.1 Deliver materials in the manufacturers original un-opened packages and containers.6.2 All materials or material packaging must be
26、clearlymarked in a weather-resistant manner with type, stock, or lotnumber, and other pertinent information, for example, size,manufacturers name, ASTM specification, flash point,equiviscous temperature, or other application information.7. Storage and Handling of Materials7.1 Store materials on rais
27、ed platforms or pallets. Store rollsvertically or horizontally, as recommended by the roll manu-facturer. Store materials in a dry, ventilated and weatherprooflocation. Avoid damage or embedment of foreign materials.7.2 Store materials to prevent system suppliers markingsfrom being destroyed.7.3 Whe
28、n used as part of the system, store primer andmastic in tightly closed original containers at temperaturesrecommended by the system supplier.8. Safety Precautions8.1 Safety precautions include, but are not limited to: wearprotective clothing, vent fumes especially in confined spaces,avoid contact wi
29、th hot bitumen, do not use flammable materialsnear an open flame or near equipment that may produce sparksor open flames. Obtain and refer to MSDSs for further safetyprecautions.9. Environmental Conditions9.1 Installation can proceed when conditions agreed uponby the owner, producer or system suppli
30、er, installer, andspecifier are met.9.2 Conditions that may interfere with the installation andperformance of the waterproofing include: inclement weather,wet or frost-covered surfaces, dirty or dusty surfaces, highwinds, and temperatures above or below a workable range forthe products to be install

Substrate Preparation11.1 Prepare and evaluate concrete surfaces in accordancewith Guide D5295. Verify that required slopes for drai
37、nage andembedded nailers (if any) are installed.11.2 Apply primer to all surfaces to receive waterproofing atrates recommended by the manufacturer. Allow to dry.11.3 Areas must be covered with waterproofing on the sameday as primer is applied (or within a longer period if allowedby the manufacturer)
38、 or they must be re-primed.11.4 In areas that become contaminated by dust, dirt, orother foreign material that would interfere with the satisfactoryinstallation or performance of the system, clean and re-primeprior to installation of the waterproofing.12. Installation12.1 General:12.1.1 Use care dur
39、ing installation to avoid damaging theprepared substrate.12.1.2 Protect adjacent membrane and building componentsfrom damage. Protect installed membrane from constructiontraffic.12.1.3 Seal edge of incomplete membrane installation at theend of each day.12.2 Bitumen Heating and Application:12.2.1 Hea
40、t bitumen sufficiently to produce applicationtemperature recommended by the manufacturer. Do not exceedthe maximum heating limits.12.2.2 Apply bitumen to achieve complete coverage, acontinuous firmly bonded film of bitumen, and application rate(thickness) recommended by the manufacturer.12.3 Applica
41、tion: Type I and II:12.3.1 Low Slope Membrane Application:12.3.1.1 Starting at the low point, install the requirednumber of plies in the required manner, separate-layer orshingle application.12.3.1.2 For separate-layer application, install plies with aminimum side lap of 50 mm 2 in. Offset overlying
42、 ply lapsby approximately one-half sheet width.12.3.1.3 For shingle application, install plies with a mini-mum head lap of 50 mm 2 in.12.3.1.4 Install plies with 250 mm 10 in. minimum endlap. Stagger end laps a minimum of 300 mm 12 in.12.3.2 Vertical Sheet Membrane Application:12.3.2.1 Beginning at
43、the bottom of the wall, install therequired number of plies vertically in shingle application.12.3.2.2 Mechanically attach plies at the top of each courseby nail if wood nailers are present or by anchor and barfasteners.12.3.2.3 When the height of the membrane requires that itbe installed in more th
