Summary of Test Method4.1 The plies of the reinforced geomembrane are firstpartially peeled apart by hand for a distance of 25 to 50 mm (1to 2 in.) to allow clamping of the specimen in the g

Significance and Use5.1 This method is an index test and measures the forcerequired to separate individual plies of a reinforced geomem-bran

However for a particular type of product, minimum values of ply adhesion can be determined and agreedto by producer and consumer, and both can monitor to assurecompliance with the agreed-upon value.5.2 DisputesIn case of a

Apparatus6.1 Tensile Testing MachineA constant rate of extension(CRE) testing machine complying with Specification D76shall be used. The loa

The testing machine shall be capable ofmaintaining a constant rate of extension of 50 mm/min (2in./min) over the entire duration of the test.6.2 The testing machine shall be equipped with either a stripchart recorder or similar auxiliary equ

Sampling7.1 Lot SampleFor the lot sample, take rolls of geomem-brane per the applicable project specification, or as agreedupon between purchaser and supplier. Unless otherwise speci-fied, refer to Practice D 4354, “Sampling of Geosynthetics forTesting.”7.2 L
22、aboratory SampleFor the laboratory sample, take afull-width swatch approximately1m(3ft)long by roll widthfor each roll in the lot sample. Take a sample that will excludematerial from the outer wrap of the roll or the inner wraparound the core. In the case where the sample is taken at theproduction s

The test specimens shall be cut parallel to the scrim. Note
24、st specimen shall be taken closer than 100 mm (4 in.) fromthe selvage.7.4 Number of Test SpecimensPrepare five test specimens,in the longitudinal (machine) direction only.8. Preparation of Test Specimens8.1 Standard Method - Separation SheetDuring manufac-ture, specimens can be easily obtained by de

A sharp knife or scalpel may prove useful toinitiate ply s

Procedure10.1 Fix the separated ends of the test specimen in the gripsof the testing machine and adjust so that the tension isdistributed uniformly, th
27、at no twisting of the test specimenoccurs during the test, and that the angle of separation isapproximately 180. The portion of the test specimen not fixedin the grips is left unrestrained.10.2 Speed of TestingThe speed of testing is 50 mm/min(2 in./min). The speed of testing is to be uniform throug

Measure and record the force necessaryfor ply separation over a length of at least 100 mm (4 in.).10.5 TearingIf duri

In case of repeated tearing, eitherreject the specimen and prepare additional specimens, oraccept the te

However, tearing indicates that theply adhesion strength exceeds the tear strength of the indi-vidual plies. In
31、 cases of tearing, the results should be sodesignated in the report per section 13.1.7.11.2 The ply adhesion strength may differ between differentplies of the same article and also at different points along thesame ply. Therefore, the ply adhesion strength should bemeasured over a reasonable separat

Precision and Bias14.1 PrecisionThe precision of this test method is beingestablished.14.2 BiasThe true value of ply adhesion of reinforcedgeomembranes can be defined only in terms
