1、Designation: D7404 07 (Reapproved 2016)Standard Test Method forDetermination of Emulsified Asphalt Residue by MoistureAnalyzer1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D7404; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revisio

2、n, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 1.1 This test method covers a rapid and quantitativedetermination of the residue in emulsified asphalts

3、 using amoisture analyzer. It is applicable to all nonsolvent-containingemulsion types.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard.1.3 A precision and bias statement for this test method hasnot been completed at this time. Therefore, this test methodshould not be used for acc

6、t3. Summary of Test Method3.1 A sample of emulsified asphalt is placed in an opensample tray with an appropriate liquid transfer device capableof handling 1- to 3-mL sample sizes. The sample is heated toa preset temperature as required by emulsion type but neverexceeding 163C to determine the percen

Significance and Use4.1 This test is used to indicate the compositional charac-teristics of emulsified asphalt and is applicable to anionicemulsified asphalts as described in Table 1 of SpecificationD977 and cationic emulsified asphalt as described in Table 1 ofSpecificatio

The automatic switch-off criterion is usedto set the instruments sensitivity for higher accuracy (1 mg for140 s or longer times)

12、 or for lower accuracy (1 mg for 50 s orlower times).1This test method is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee D04 on Roadand Paving Materials and is the direct responsibility of Subcommittee D04.42 onEmulsified Asphalt Test.Current edition approved Jan. 1, 2016. 17、er times (lower accuracy).NOTE 1Although this test method is not for solvent-containingemulsions, some guidance is given for practitioners who desire to obtainresidue for emulsions of that type. Program the moisture analyzer to runin the temperature-gradient mode by setting the start temperature at

18、50Cand setting the ramp temperature at 10/min and the end temperature to100C if the emulsion also contains polymer. Set the end temperature to163C if the solvent-containing emulsion does not contain polymer. Inboth cases, set the switch-off criterion to 1 mg for 140 s (see AppendixAppendix X1) or lo

This report can be attached to any other finalreport that is desired. In some cases, a plot of the rate of wa
