Scope1.1 This classification system covers the properties of vul-canized rubber materials (natural rubber, reclaimed rubber,synthetic robb

3、ers, alone or in combination) that are intendedfor use in rubber products found in natural gas pipelineapplications (for example, elastomeric couplings, o-rings, quadseals, and diaphragms).1.2 This classification system is based on the premise thatthe material properties of all rubber products can b

4、e arrangedinto characteristic material designations. These designationsare determined by types and classes as described in Classifi-cation System D2000. For gas industry pipeline applications,materials can be further described using additional require-ments herein in conjunction with Classification

5、System D2000.It must be noted that there are other types of elastomerscovered in Classification System D2000 that are not covered bythis standard.1.3 In all cases where the provisions of this classificationsystem would conflict with those of the detailed specificationsfor a particular product, the l

6、atter shall take precedence.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations

9、y3.1 DefinitionsFor definitions of technical terms pertain-ing to rubber used in this specification, see TerminologyD1566.3.2 DefinitionsThe nomenclature and abbreviations usedfor natural and synthetic rubbers are in accordance withPractice D1418.4. Purpose4.1 The purpose of this classification syst

10、em is to provideguidance to the engineer in the selection of practical, commer-cially available rubber materials, and further to provide amethod for specifying these materials by the use of a simple“line call-out” designation.4.2 This classification system was developed to permit theaddition of desc

11、riptive values for future rubber materialswithout complete reorganization of classification system and tofacilitate the incorporation of future new test methods to keeppace with changing industry requirements.5. Classification5.1 Rubber materials shall be specified using the conventionset forth in C

12、lassification System D2000 with additional rubberproperties represented by supplemental suffix designations ZGnas described in Table 1.6. Basic Requirements6.1 The basic requirements for the properties specified inthis standard are based on values obtained from standardlaboratory test specimens prep

13、ared and tested in accordancewith the applicable ASTM test methods. Test results fromspecimens prepared from finished products may not duplicatevalues obtained from standard test specimens.1This classification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee D11 onRubber and is the direct responsibility

Suffixletters and suffix numbers describing the suffix requirementsmay be used singly or in combination but not all suffx valuesavailable for a given material need be specified.7.2 The supplemental suffix requirements for the ZGndes-ignations are shown in Table 2

20、ck Content9. Test Methods9.1 The applicable test methods are listed in Table 5 ofClassification System D2000 and Table 2.10. Sampling and Inspection10.1 A lot, unless otherwise specified, shall consist of allproducts of the same material submitted for inspection at thesame time.10.2 When proof of co

21、nformance with a specification basedon this classification system is required, the supplier shall,upon request of the purchaser at the time of ordering, furnish asufficient number of samples to permit the performance of therequired tests. Test specimens shall be prepared as prescribedin 6.1. The sam

22、ples shall be warranted to have equivalent cureand to be from the same run or batch of compound used in thelot.11.
