Scope1.1 This practice covers standardizing practices and termi-nology related to information conveying the physical locationof equipmen

3、t.1.2 This practice describes ten increasingly specific levelsof equipment physical location information, assigning a stan-dard name and level number to each.1.3 There is no existing, recognized practice for recording,discussing, and comparing physical location information.1.4 This practice is desig

4、ned to be applicable and appropri-ate for all equipment-holding entities.1.5 In addition to applicability to equipment, this practicemay in whole or in part be effectively applied to intangibleproperty, real property, and materiel.1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concer

5、ns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2. Terminology2.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:2.1.1 building loca

6、tion, nequipment physical locationinformation representing the building position of the itemwithin the site location.2.1.2 city/township/county location, nequipment physicallocation information representing the city, township, or countyposition of the item within the state/province location.2.1.3 co

7、untry location, nequipment physical location in-formation representing the country position of the item.2.1.4 desk/shelf/bench location, nequipment physical lo-cation information representing the desk, shelf, or benchposition of the item within the room/post/station/area location.2.1.5 floor locatio

8、n, nequipment physical location infor-mation representing the floor position of the item within thebuilding location.2.1.6 physical location level, nequipment physical loca-tion information represented by nomenclature or physicallocation level number.2.1.7 precise location, nequipment physical locat

9、ion in-formation representing the precise position of the item withindesk/shelf/bench location.2.1.8 room/post/grid/station/area location, nequipmentphysical location information representing the room, post, grid,station, or area position of the item within the floor location.2.1.9 site location, ne

10、quipment physical location infor-mation representing the site position of the item within thecity/township/county location.2.1.10 space location, nequipment physical location in-formation representing the position of the item if other than onor near the surface of the earth.2.1.11 spatial coordinate

Significance and Use3.1 This practice establishes a notational and conversationalapproach to equipment physical location information to enableprecision in requirements and results related to equipmentphysical location tracking.3.2 It is intended that this practice fosters and

13、enablesadditional practices related to or based on equipment physicallocation information.4. Equipment Physical Location Information NumericalLevels4.1 Space location is Physical Location Level (PLL) 1.4.2 Country location is PLL 2.4.3 State/province location is PLL 3.4.4 City/township/county locati

14、on is PLL 4.4.5 Site location is PLL 5.4.6 Building location is PLL 6.4.7 Floor location is PLL 7.4.8 Room/post/grid/station/area location is PLL 8.4.9 Desk/shelf location is PLL 9.4.10 Precise location is PLL 10.1This practice is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee E53 on PropertyManagement Sy

16、sical location terminology ornumerical level references or both to assure requirements andresults related to location control are uniformly expressed andcommunicated.5.2 An entity shall determine the appropriate level ofphysical location information to maintain and communicate tosupport the mission

17、of the organization cost effectively.5.2.1 Goals shall be identified such as the ability to locateequipment within a specified period of time.5.2.2 Consideration shall be given for the type of buildingsand markings applicable to the site location to determine if anylevel below PLL 5 is required or a

18、pplicable.5.3 This practice does not require that all levels be used ina given situation.5.3.1 The required specificity shall be determined andrecorded. This may be done for all equipment or for specificsubsets of equipment. For example, one company in an officeenvironment may determine that equipme

19、nt will be tracked toPLL 8, room/post/station/area location. Another, similar com-pany may determine that equipment will be tracked to PLL 6,building location.5.3.2 The required generality of information recorded andcommunicated will depend on transactional requirements andthe location profile of th

20、e entity and shall be determined andspecified. For example, if all of a companys equipment islocated in one building, information for PLL 5 and below foreach item of equipment may not be recorded, but may be addedas general information when required.5.3.3 Intermediate levels not applicable to a give

21、n situationshall be determined and specified. For example, an entity maynot require use of PLL 8, room/post/station/area location, asPLL 9, desk/shelf location, within PLL 7, floor location, mayadequately and appropriately convey the physical locationinformation.5.4 It is recognized that other locat

22、ion tracking and record-ing mechanisms not based in whole or in part on physicallocation information may be appropriately used in conjunctionwith or separately from this practice. For example, informationtechnology may be used to determine the logical location ofequipment connected to a network. Thi

23、s logical locationinformation may or may not be correlated to physical locationinformation for this equipment. The functional location ofequipment within a level of physical location information maybe used. For example, an item of equipment may be recordedwith PLL 6, building physical location infor

24、mation, and thenlisted with a functional location as a part of a parent systemsuch as an air conditioning system.5.5 Spatial tracking systems represent points on the earthnumerically. Where spatial tracking is used, the precision of thenumerical representation may be correlated to the level ofgranul

25、arity expressed in this practice.6.
