Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.INTRODUCTIONThis specification is proposed as a performance standard to be met for items that will be exported.The standard would apply onl

3、y when requested by the buyer.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers the procedures for testingloaded shipping containers. Drop, vibration and compressiontests are performed to measure the ability of the shippingcontainer to protect the product from shock, vibration andcompressive forces encountered

4、during normal export handlingand shipping conditions. This specification is not intended tosupplant material specifications or existing preshipment testprocedures. This specification is not intended for use withhazardous materials.1.2 These procedures are suitable for all types of laboratoryapparatu

5、s, including reusable and disposable macro and microproducts.1.3 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to thetest method portion, Section 4, of this specification: Thisstandard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns,if any, associated with its use. Requirements3.1 Three individual shipping containers, or one unit con-sisting of two or more overpackaged individual units arerequired. Each specimen shall be run through the sequenc

9、e oftests, in the order given.3.2 Condition test specimens in accordance with PracticeD 685. Standard conditions must be maintained throughout thetest sequence.3.3 The packaging shall comply with Practice D 3951except cleanliness of laboratory apparatus shall be as requiredby the Product Standard, t

10、he Quality Assurance Standard, or asagreed upon between the manufacturer and the purchaser.4. Procedure4.1 Determine the test levels in accordance with PracticeD 4169.4.2 For items less than 100 lb, perform drop test inaccordance with Test Method D 5276.4.2.1 Determine the drop test levels of the sp

12、m the following drop sequence: bottom at twicespecified height; bottom long edge at specified height; bottomadjacent short edge at specified height; bottom corner atspecified height; bottom diagonal opposite corner at specifiedheight; and top at specified height.4.3 For drop test items more than 100

The total number of drops shall be four.4.4 Perform the compression test in accordance with TestMethod D 642.4.4.1 Compression test level in accordance with PracticeD 4169 where F = 4.4 and

Acceptable Criteria5.1 Disposable GlassCompletion of testing withoutbreakage occurring in any of the three units tested. In the

17、 caseof bulk packed items (more than 50 in a shipping container)less than 3 % total breakage in each of the three units tested.5.2 All OtherCompletion of testing without breakageoccurring in any of the three units tested.5.3 Outer package must contain product and provide adegree of protection to con

18、tents. One complete retest consist-ing of three (3) new packages is permitted.6. Report6.1 Each supplier shall maintain on file laboratory testreports verifying successful testing as outlined in this specifi-cation and if required, with each order issue a certification, inwriting, that states that p

19、ackaging complies with this specifi-cation.7.
