1、Designation: E 989 06Standard Classification forDetermination of Impact Insulation Class (IIC)1This standard is issued under the fixed designation E 989; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A

2、number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This classification provides a method for determining arating that can be used to compare the levels of impact noisegenerated by a sta

4、ine described in Test Methods E 492 and E 1007.1.4 Test methods that invoke this classification include:1.4.1 Test Method E 492 the single-number rating iscalled impact insulation class (IIC).1.4.2 Test Method E 1007 the single-number rating iscalled field impact insulation class (FIIC).1.5 This sta

The rating can be used byarchitects, builders, and specification and code authorities foracoustical design purposes in building constructions.4.2 The rating strictly only applies to excitation by thestandard tapping machine defi

Nor does it deal with the squeaking, crunching or rattling sounds that can occur in joist constructionwhen elements in the co

Basis of Classification5.1 Table 1 lists the sound pressure levels defining the shapeof the reference contour, C(f), for the sixteen one-third octavebands from 100 to 3150

11、 Hz.5.2 To determine the impact insulation rating of a floorceiling assembly, the impact sound pressure levels, L(f), mustfirst be rounded to the nearest decibel (dB).5.3 The reference contour, C(f), is then fitted to the impactsound pressure levels for the specimen by adding a constant Tto all valu

Stating this criterion as a formula,gives:1This classification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee E33 onEnvironmentalAcoustics and is the direct respons

T must be increased until the difference in each frequencyband is less than or equal to 8.5.5 When both criteria have been satisfied, the fitted contouris given by the array C(f) + T and the rating is given by 110 T.6. Presentation of Results6.1 It is recomme

In this way attention is drawn to thefrequency regions that limit the impact insulation performanceof the test specimen. Fig. X1.1 shows an example of spectrumhaving an IIC 49.
