Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 basket or elementthe replaceable part in a strainerthat performs the barrier separation of solid particles fromflowing fluid. It is normally removable for cl

10、eaning andservicing and can be furnished in a wide variety of materials,particle size removal capability, straining area, and types ofconstruction. Interchangeable baskets or elements are normallyavailable for a given make, model, and size strainer.3.1.2 maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP)theh

11、ighest internal pressure that the strainer can be subjected to inservice. The maximum nonshock working pressure for which astrainer is rated by the manufacturer.3.1.3 maximum design temperaturethe maximum tem-perature (MAT) for which the strainer is rated by the manu-facturer.1This specification is

Classification4.1 Strainers may be classified into three general construc-tion categories, simplex, duple

17、x (or multiplex), and automatic(self-cleaning), as follows:4.1.1 SimplexA strainer consisting of a single basket orelement chamber that normally requires the flow through theunit to be shut down before cleaning.4.1.1.1 Classifications of simplex strainers based on portalignment relative to basket or

18、 element chamber are Y, T, Z, andothers.4.1.2 Duplex (or Multiplex)A strainer usually consistingof at least two basket or element chambers separated by a valve(or valving) that permits continuous flow of fluid through onechamber while the other is accessible for cleaning.4.1.3 Automatic (Self-Cleani

19、ng)A strainer providingsome means for back-flushing or cleaning of the strainingelement while the unit is in service. It can have one or moreelements and may require periodic shutdown for maintenanceand inspection.4.2 Strainers may be further classified by pressure ratingsand types of port connectio

20、ns, port alignments relative to unitcenter lines, cover closures, valve types (in duplex), types ofbaskets or elements, materials of construction, and otherfeatures of design.5. Ordering Information5.1 Orders for products under this specification shall includethe following information as applicable.

21、 If a manufacturersstandardized product is being ordered, include all data neededby the manufacturer to define the product.5.1.1 Make.5.1.2 Model (simplex or duplex).5.1.3 Port size.5.1.4 Port connections.5.1.5 Maximum allowable working pressure/temperaturerating.5.1.6 Body and cover material.5.1.7

22、Type of cover closure.5.1.8 Basket (element) material.5.1.9 Basket hole size.5.1.10 Optional design features.5.1.11 Certification (see 6.4, 8.1.2.1, and Section 9).5.1.12 Nondestructive examination requirements (see 8.2).5.1.13 This ASTM standard designation number.5.1.14 Additional requirements or

23、testing as contracted bythe manufacturer and purchaser.5.2 If a product is to be specified by performance criteriarather than model description, then the following should bespecified:5.2.1 Maximum allowable clean pressure loss at a givenflow capacity of a given liquid at a given viscosity.5.2.2 Temp

24、erature and pressure.5.2.3 Straining area.5.2.4 Minimum basket rupture differential pressure (see7.9).5.2.5 Maximum valve seepage rates (see 7.8).5.2.6 Certification (see 6.4, 8.1.2.1, and Section 9).5.2.7 For self-cleaning strainers, specify basket cleaningeffectiveness and endurance testing.5.3 In

25、 general, the standard product description should notbe mixed with the performance criteria because conflictingspecifications can result (for example, maximum allowablepressure loss inconsistent with product size).6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 Strainer housings, as well as any pressure-retainingpa

26、rts, including bolting used for pressure retention, shall beconstructed of materials listed in SectionVIII, Division 1 of theASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (hereafter calledASME Code) or ANSI/ASME B3.1. Bolts, screws, and fasten-ers in contact with interior fluid shall be of appropriatecorrosi

27、on-resistant material.6.2 The pressure ratings established under this specificationare based on materials of high quality produced under regularcontrol of chemical and mechanical properties by a recognizedprocess. The manufacturer shall be prepared to submit acertificate of compliance verifying that

28、 his product has beenmanufactured from material whose chemical and mechanicalproperties are at least equal to the requirements of an accept-able standard or specification.6.3 For materials not having values of allowable stresstabulated in Section VIII, Division 1 of the ASME Code,allowable stresses

29、shall be determined in accordance with theprocedures outlined in Subsection C and Appendix P of thatsection. Where it can be shown that the values of allowablestress listed for a particular material in one product form(because of similar chemistry, mechanical properties, heattreatment, and so forth)

30、 are applicable to the same material inan unlisted product form, the listed values of allowable stressmay be used.6.4 Seals and parts, other than pressure-retaining parts andbolting used for pressure retention, shall be of materialssuitable for the service.6.5 Users are cautioned against application

31、s with fluidswhich may react chemically with any materials used in theseproducts in contact with the fluid.7. Other Requirements7.1 The maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP)and maximum design temperature rating of strainers coveredunder this specification shall be established by at least one oft

32、he following methods:7.1.1 Proof test in accordance with the requirements pre-scribed in paragraph UG-101 of Section VIII of the ASMECode. If burst-type tests as outlined in paragraph UG-101(m)are used, it is not necessary to rupture the component. In thiscase, the value of B to be used in determini

33、ng the MAWP shallbe the maximum pressure to which the component wassubjected without rupture. Safety of personnel shall be givenserious consideration when conducting proof tests. Compo-nents that have been subjected to a proof test shall not beoffered for sale.F1200 88 (2010)27.1.2 Design calculatio

34、ns in accordance with the require-ments prescribed in Section VIII, Division 1 of the ASMECode.7.1.3 Extensive and successful performance experience un-der comparable service conditions with similar materials maybe used as a basis for rating provided all other provisions ofthis specification are met

35、.7.2 Strainers may be cast, forged, or fabricated of plates,tubes, or pipes. Welding on pressure-retaining componentsshall be as specified below.7.3 Welded joint design details shall be in accordance withSection VIII, Division 1 of the ASME Code except as noted in7.4 and 7.5. Supplemental radiograph

36、y requirements are pre-sented in Section 8 of this specification. Welders and weldprocedures shall be qualified in accordance with Section IX ofthe ASME Code. Except for fillet welds, all welds shall be fullpenetration welds extending through the entire thickness of theshell.7.4 Inlet and outlet con

37、nections consisting of welded flangesand fittings shall be in accordance with Specification F722.Pipe end connections for strainers shall be in accordance withone of the standards listed in 2.2 or 2.3. Where radiography isrequired by 8.2.2, all welded inlet and outlet connections shallbe butt-weld j

38、oints as required by Specification F722 for Class1 piping systems.7.5 Welds on strainers greater than 6-in. (152-mm) internaldiameter or 1.5-ft3(0.042-m3) net internal volume rated above600 psi (4.14 MPa) or 400F (204C) shall be of the followingtypes as listed inTable UW-12 of theASME Code:Type (1)

39、forCategory A joints; Types (1) or (2) for Category B joints; andall Category C and D joints shall be full penetration weldsextending through the entire thickness of the vessel wall ornozzle wall.Welded joint categories are defined under UW-3 ofthe ASME Code.7.6 Post-weld heat treatment shall be in

40、accordance withSection VIII, Division 1 except as noted in 7.6.1.7.6.1 Strainers fabricated of carbon or low alloy steel,greater than 6-in. (152-mm) internal diameter or 1.5-ft3(0.042-m3) net internal volume, rated above 600 psi (4.14MPa) or 400F (204C), shall be post-weld, heat-treatedregardless of

41、 thickness.7.7 Threaded pipe connections shall be limited to thefollowing pressures:34 in. (19 mm) NPS and below . . . 1500 psig (10.34 MPa) max1 in. (25 mm) NPS and below . . . 1200 psig (8.27 MPa) max2 in. (50 mm) NPS and below . . . 600 psig (4.14 MPa) max3 in. (76 mm) NPS and below . . . 400 psi

42、g (2.76 MPa) max7.7.1 Threaded pipe joints above 2-in. (50-mm) nominalpipe size (NPS) shall not be used in systems that requireradiographic examination listed in 8.2.2.7.8 Duplex (or multiplex) strainer valve seepage rates shallbe minimized to prevent undue spillage of fluid under normaloperating co

43、nditions while the element is being serviced orcleaned in accordance with the manufacturers procedures.Maximum seepage rates with a specified liquid at a specifiedpressure and temperature may be as contracted by the manu-facturer and purchaser (see 5.2.5), and provision may be madeto include a test

44、to determine acceptability before acceptancefor a given application.7.9 Baskets or elements shall withstand a minimum of10-psi (0.069-MPa) differential pressure without rupturing orsuch other differential pressure as contracted by manufacturerand purchaser (see 5.2.4) for the application involved.8.

45、 Test Methods8.1 Test all strainers by one of the following methods:8.1.1 Conduct a hydrostatic test at 112 times the 100F(38C) rated MAWPof the strainer. Perform the test with wateror other liquid having a maximum viscosity of 40 SSU at125F (52C) with a maximum pressure test temperature of125F (52C

46、). The minimum duration of the test shall be 15 sfor strainers less than 2-in. (50-mm) NPS, 1 min for strainers212 through 8 in. (63 through 203 mm), and 3 min for largersizes. The purpose of this test is to detect leaks and structuralimperfections. No visible leakage is permitted.8.1.2 Strainers of

47、 2-in. (50-mm) NPS and smaller with otherthan flanged connections may, at the option of the manufac-turer, be air tested to the lesser of 1.2 times MAWP or 80 psig(0.55 MPa). The minimum duration of the test shall be 15 s.Visually detectable leakage is not acceptable.8.1.2.1 If this option is exerci

48、sed, the manufacturer shall beable to certify that a prototype of the same size strainer wassubjected to a hydrostatic test in accordance with 8.1.1.8.2 Examine welds as follows:8.2.1 Visually examine all welds in accordance with ANSIB31.1.8.2.2 Welded inlet and outlet connections of a strainer that

49、are equal to or greater than 4-in. (100-mm) nominal diameteror 0.375-in.
