Significance and Use2.1 This guide has been developed to aid naval architects,ship designers, material and equipment suppliers, buyers, shipowners and operators, and government agencies by providingpertinent information in one document that can be used duringvarious s

These stages in-clude design, planning, purchasing, material fabricating, as-sembling, testing, quality assurance, and inspection.2.2 This guide does not specify the use of a particularstandard usage nor does it detail what the standard covers.2.3 There may be more
5、than one standard listed for aparticular product, test, or specific application. However, thisguide does not compare the different standards or specifywhich particular standard should be used.2.4 A partial list of sources for obtaining various standardsis included below.
