Terminology3.1 Definitions:3.1.1 fabricated fittinga fitting constructed by weldingtogether sections of pipe or tube.3.1.2 fittinga device used in a piping system to changepipe direction, size, split or combine flows, or adapt to otherjoining methods.3.1.3 grooved endtype of fitt

23、ing or pipe end having agroove for use with grooved mechanical couplings (Type I) asdefined in F1476.3.1.4 pipehollow tubular product conforming to Table 1Specification Reference Nos. 19, 20, 22 and 13, NominalDimensions, or O.D. tube.3.1.5 plain endtype of fitting or pipe end for use with agasketed

24、 mechanical coupling (Type II) that is plain end asdefined in Specification F1476.3.1.6 tangenta section of straight pipe or tube integral toor welded to the end(s) of a fitting.3.1.7 wrought fittinga fitting made by shaping or shapingand welding.4. 29、s and Manufacture6.1 Ferrous MaterialsCast fittings shall be constructed ofductile iron in accordance with Table 1 Specification Reference8 or 10 Grades 654515 or 654512 respectively or Mal-leable Iron in accordance with Table 1 Specification Reference1 or steel in accordance with Table 1 Specificat

30、ion Reference 5or Cast Iron in accordance with Table 1 Specification Refer-ence 2. Wrought fittings shall be made in accordance withTable 1 Specification Reference 6. Fabricated fittings andtangents shall be constructed of steel in accordance with Table1 Specification Reference 3.6.1.1 Fitting shall

31、 be bare, coated with manufacturersstandard preparation and paint, hot-dip galvanized in accor-dance with Table 1 Specification Reference 4 or other finish asagreed upon between purchaser and manufacturer.6.2 Aluminum Alloy MaterialsFittings shall be con-structed of aluminum alloy in accordance with

32、 Table 1 Speci-fication Reference 12. Fabricated fittings shall be made frompipe in accordance with Table 1 Specification Reference 14.6.2.1 Finish for aluminum alloy fittings shall be bare,anodized in accordance with Table 1 Specification Reference16 or as otherwise agreed between purchaser and man

33、ufacturer.6.3 Iron-Chromium-Nickel, Corrosion ResistanceMaterialsFittings shall be constructed of iron-chromium-nickel alloy in accordance with Table 1 Specification Refer-ence 11, or Table 1 Specification Reference 9. Welded tangentsand fabricated fittings shall be in accordance with Table 1Specifi

34、cation Reference 7.6.3.1 Finish for iron-chromium-nickel shall be bare or asotherwise agreed between purchaser and manufacturer.6.4 Copper or brass, cast fittings shall be constructed ofbrass in accordance with Table 1 Specification Reference 17.Wrought fittings shall be constructed of copper in acc

35、ordancewith Table 1 Specification Reference 13.6.4.1 Finish for copper or brass fittings shall be bare or asotherwise agreed between purchaser and manufacturer.6.5 Copper-nickel cast fittings shall be constructed ofcopper-nickel in accordance with Table 1 Specification Refer-ence 15 as applicable.6.

36、5.1 Finish for copper-nickel fittings shall be bare or asotherwise agreed between purchaser and manufacturer.6.6 Other MaterialsWhere other materials are required,the material, mechanical properties and finish of the productsshall be as agreed upon by the fitting manufacturer and thepurchaser.6.7 Ma

37、terial Quality:6.7.1 The material shall be of such quality and purity thatthe finished product shall have the properties and characteris-tics to meet the performance requirements of this standard.6.7.2 The manufacturer is encouraged to use materialsproduced from recovered materials to the maximum ex

38、tentpracticable without jeopardizing the intended use. The term“recovered materials” means: “Materials which have beencollected or recovered from solid waste and reprocessed tobecome a source of raw material, as opposed to virgin rawmaterials.” Used or rebuilt products shall not be used.7. Other Req

39、uirements7.1 Design Requirements:7.1.1 The design of the fittings may be qualified by math-ematical analysis in accordance with piping codes agreed to bymanufacturer and purchaser or by testing. Fittings that aretested shall be tested with gasketed mechanical couplings inaccordance with the test req

40、uirements of Specification F1476.7.2 Qualification Requirements:7.2.1 Mathematical Analysis:7.2.1.1 Amathematical analysis, where appropriate, shall beperformed as required by the governing piping code. Recordsof the analysis shall be available at the manufacturers facilityfor inspection by the purc

41、haser.7.2.2 Test:7.2.2.1 The fittings shall be tested, where appropriate, withgasketed mechanical couplings in accordance with the require-ments of Specification F1476. Unless otherwise noted herein,all requirements of Specification F1476 apply. Records ofsuccessful tests shall be available at the m

42、anufacturers facilityfor inspection by the purchaser.7.2.3 Each type, pressure class, and material of fittingoffered for sale must be qualified. Interpolation betweenqualified sizes is allowed as defined in Specification F1476.Qualification of the fitting requires successful completion ofthe analysi

43、s or required testing. Each fitting design is onlyqualified for use with the GMC design on which it was testedor analyzed.8. Dimensions, Mass and Permissible Variations8.1 Fitting DimensionsFitting dimensions and toleranceshall be as specified by the manufacturer.9. Workmanship, Finish and Appearanc

44、e9.1 All fitting surfaces shall be free from scale, blisters, fins,folds, seams, laps, burrs and cracks, which would affect thesuitability for the intended service.10. Inspection10.1 Terms of Inspection:10.1.1 Inspection of the fittings shall be in accordance withthe manufacturers standard inspectio

45、n procedure or as agreedupon between the purchaser and the manufacturer or supplieras part of the purchase contract.10.2 Raw Material Inspection:10.2.1 Raw material shall be inspected for compliance withits material specification.10.3 Quality Conformance Inspection:6End seal is a registered trademar

46、k of the Victaulic Company of America.F1548 01 (2012)310.3.1 Fitting samples shall be visually and dimensionallyexamined to verify compliance with the manufacturers appro-priate drawings.10.4 Process Control Inspection:10.4.1 Fittings shall be inspected throughout the entiremanufacturing and process

47、ing cycle. Methods of inspectionshall be in compliance with manufacturers quality assuranceprocedures.10.5 Inspection Records:10.5.1 Inspection records shall be maintained by the manu-facturer. The length of time on file shall be in accordance withthe manufacturers quality assurance procedures.11. C

48、ertification11.1 Material Certification:11.1.1 A certification of compliance shall be obtained fromthe materials supplier, when applicable. This certificate shallstate that applicable requirements for the raw material havebeen satisfied.12. Product Marking12.1 Each fitting shall be marked with the m

49、anufacturersname or trademark, size, and markings traceable to the materialand pressure rating.13. Packaging13.1 The fitting shall be boxed, crated, wrapped and other-wise protected during shipment and storage in accordance withmanufacturers standard practice. Care shall be taken to prop-erly protect the fitting from damage during shipment andstorage.14.
