3、*1.1 This specification covers metal insert fittings and coppercrimp rings for use with cross-linked polyethylene (PEX)tubing in38,12,58,34,1,114,112, and 2 in. nominal diametersthat meet the requirements for Specifications F876 and F877and for use with polyethylene of raised temperature (PE-RT)tubi

4、ng in38,12,58,34 and 1 in. and 114 in. nominal diametersthat meet the requirements of Specifications F2623 and F2769.These fittings are intended for use in 100 psi (689.5 kPa) cold-and hot-water distribution systems operating at temperaturesup to, and including, 180F (82C). The requirements formater

5、ials, workmanship, dimensions, and markings to be usedon the fittings and rings are also included.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The values given in parentheses are mathemati-cal conversions to SI units which are provided for informationonly and are not

6、considered the standard.1.3 Compliance with this specification requires that thesefittings be tested and certified to Specification F877 when usedwith PEX tubing and Specification F2769 when used withPE-RT tubing.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associ

General Requirements6.1 When fittings manufactured according to this specif

26、ica-tion are intended for use with the PEX tubing, the followingsections of Specification F877 constitute a part of this specifi-cation.6.1.1 Requirements,6.1.2 Test Methods, and6.1.3 Retest and Rejection.6.2 In addition, when a section with a title identical to thatreferenced in 6.1 appears in this

27、 specification, it containsadditional requirements that supplement those appearing inSpecification F877.6.3 When fittings manufactured according to this specifica-tion are intended for use with PE-RT tubing, the followingsections of Specification F2769 constitute a part of thisspecification:6.3.1 Re

28、quirements,6.3.2 Test Methods, and6.3.3 Retest and Rejection.6.4 In addition, when a section with a title identical to thatreferenced in 6.3 appears in this specification, it containsadditional requirements that supplement those appearing inSpecification F2769.6.5 DimensionsAny randomly selected fit

29、ting or fittings,and crimp ring or crimp rings, shall be used to determinedimensions. Measurements shall be made in accordance withTest Method D2122, except when determining diameters,which is done by making measurements at four locationsspaced approximately 45 apart around the circumference.Inspect

Use separate sets of assemblies for each performance testrequirement.7. Dimensions7.1 Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimens

34、ions and toler-ances of fittings and crimp rings shall be as shown in Fig. 1,Fig. 2, Fig. 3, and Fig. 4, when measured in accordance with6.5.7.1.1 AlignmentThe maximum angular variation of anyopening shall not exceed 1 off the true centerline axis.7.1.2 Fittings with Solder Joint EndsSolder joint en

35、dsshall be in accordance with ASME B16.22, ASME B16.18, orMSS SP-104.7.1.3 Tapered Threaded EndsFitting threads shall beright-hand conforming to ASME B1.20.1. 36、g surfaces of the insert shall be smooth andfree of foreign material. Fitting walls shall be free of cracks,holes, blisters, voids, foreign inclusions, or other defects thatare visible to the unaided eye and affect the wall integrity.9. Assembly9.1 Crimp JointsInsert fittings shall be joined to PEXt

37、ubing or PE-RT tubing by the compression of a copper crimpring around the outer circumference of the tubing, forcing thetubing material into annular spaces formed by ribs on thefitting. Insert fittings and crimp rings shall meet the dimen-sional and material requirements of this standard. PEX tubing

38、shall meet the requirements of Specifications F876 or F877.PE-RT tubing shall meet the requirements of SpecificationF2769. The dimensions and out-of-roundness of the crimp ring,after it has been crimped, shall be in accordance with Table 1.9.1.1 Crimping ProcedureThe crimping procedure shallbe as fo

39、llows: slide the crimp ring onto the tubing, insert theribbed end of the fitting into the end of the tubing until thetubing contacts the shoulder of the fitting or tube stop. Forfitting sizes38 to 114 in. the crimp ring shall then be positionedon the tubing so the edge of the crimp ring is18 to14 in

40、. (3.2to 6.4 mm) from the end of the tube. For 112 in. fitting size thecrimp ring shall be positioned14 to38 in. (6.4 to 9.5 mm) fromthe end of tube. For 2 in. fitting size the crimp ring shall bepositioned38 to12 in. (9.5 to 12.7 mm) from the end of thetube. The jaws of the crimping tool shall be c

41、entered over thecrimp ring and the tool shall be held so that the crimping jawsare approximately perpendicular to the axis of the barb. Thejaws of the crimping tool shall be closed around the crimp ring,compressing the crimp ring onto the tubing. The crimp ringshall not be crimped more than once. Ea

42、ch crimp shall bechecked to determine conformance to the after-crimped dimen-sional requirements of Table 1.10. Product Marking10.1 Quality of MarkingThe marking shall be applied tothe fittings in such a manner that it remains legible afterinstallation and inspection.10.2 Content of Marking:10.2.1 M
