3、*1.1 This specification covers metal insert fittings and coppercrimp rings for use with cross-linked polyethylene (PEX)tubing in38,12,58,34,1,114,112, and 2 in. nominal diametersthat meet the requirements for Specification F876 and for usewith polyethylene of raised temperature (PE-RT) tubing in38,1

4、2,58,34 and 1 in. and 114 in. nominal diameters that meet therequirements of Specifications F2623 and F2769. These fittingsare intended for use in 100 psi (689.5 kPa) cold- and hot-waterdistribution systems operating at temperatures up to, andincluding, 180F (82C). In addition, the fittings covered

5、bythis specification are intended for use in, but not limited to,residential and commercial systems, reclaimed water, fireprotection, municipal water service lines, radiant heating andcooling systems, hydronic distribution systems, snow and icemelting systems, geothermal ground loops, district heati

6、ng, turfconditioning, compressed air distribution and building servicespipe. The requirements for materials, workmanship,dimensions, and markings to be used on the fittings and ringsare also included.NOTE 1Other code and regulatory requirements may apply to fittingsfor specific applications.1.2 The

7、values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The values given in parentheses are mathemati-cal conversions to SI units which are provided for informationonly and are not considered the standard.1.3 Compliance with this specification requires that thesefittings be tested and c

8、ertified to Specification F877 when usedwith PEX tubing and Specification F2769 when used withPE-RT tubing.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. General Requirements6.1 When fittings manufactured according to this specifica-tion are intended for use with the PEX tubing, the followingsections of Specification F877 constitute a part of this specifi-cation.6.1.1 R

30、equirements,6.1.2 Test Methods, and6.1.3 Retest and Rejection.6.2 In addition, when a section with a title identical to thatreferenced in 6.1 appears in this specification, it containsadditional requirements that supplement those appearing inSpecification F877.6.3 When fittings manufactured accordin

34、sadditional requirements that supplement those appearing inSpecification F2769.6.5 DimensionsAny randomly selected fitting or fittings,and crimp ring or crimp rings, shall be used to determinedimensions. Measurements shall be made in accordance withTest Method D2122, except when determining diameter

35、s,which is done by making measurements at four locationsspaced approximately 45 apart around the circumference.Inspection and gauging of solder joint ends shall be inaccordance with ASME B16.18, ASME B16.22, or MSSSP-104.6.6 GeneralAll performance tests shall be performed onassemblies of fittings, c

36、rimp rings, and PEX tubing or PE-RTtubing. Fittings and crimp rings shall meet the material anddimensional requirements of this specification. PEX tubingshall meet the requirements of Specification F876. PE-RTtubing shall meet the requirements of Specifications F2623 andF2769 or a combination thereo

37、f. Assembly of test specimensshall be in accordance with 9.1.1. Use separate sets ofassemblies for each performance test requirement.7. Dimensions7.1 Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimensions and toler-ances of fittings and crimp rings shall be as shown in Fig. 1,Fig. 2, Fig. 3, and Fig. 4, when measu

38、red in accordance with6.5.7.1.1 AlignmentThe maximum angular variation of anyopening shall not exceed 1 off the true centerline axis.7.1.2 Fittings with Solder Joint EndsSolder joint endsshall be in accordance with ASME B16.22, ASME B16.18, orMSS SP-104.7.1.3 Tapered Threaded EndsFitting threads sha

39、ll beright-hand conforming to ASME B1.20.1. They shall be taperthreads (NPT).8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 The sealing surfaces of the insert shall be smooth andfree of foreign material. Fitting walls shall be free of cracks,holes, blisters, voids, foreign inclusions, or other defects th

40、atare visible to the unaided eye and affect the wall integrity.9. Assembly9.1 Crimp JointsInsert fittings shall be joined to PEXtubing or PE-RT tubing by the compression of a copper crimpring around the outer circumference of the tubing, forcing thetubing material into annular spaces formed by ribs

41、on thefitting. Insert fittings and crimp rings shall meet the dimen-sional and material requirements of this standard. PEX tubingshall meet the requirements of Specification F876. PE-RTtubing shall meet the requirements Specifications F2623 andF2769 or a combination thereof. The dimensions and out-o

42、f-roundness of the crimp ring, after it has been crimped, shall bein accordance with Table 1.9.1.1 Crimping ProcedureThe crimping procedure shallbe as follows: slide the crimp ring onto the tubing, insert theribbed end of the fitting into the end of the tubing until thetubing contacts the shoulder o

43、f the fitting or tube stop. Forfitting sizes38 to 114 in. the crimp ring shall then be positionedon the tubing so the edge of the crimp ring is18 to14 in. (3.2to 6.4 mm) from the end of the tube. For 112 in. fitting size thecrimp ring shall be positioned14 to38 in. (6.4 to 9.5 mm) fromthe end of tub

44、e. For 2 in. fitting size the crimp ring shall bepositioned38 to12 in. (9.5 to 12.7 mm) from the end of thetube. The jaws of the crimping tool shall be centered over thecrimp ring and the tool shall be held so that the crimping jawsare approximately perpendicular to the axis of the barb. Thejaws of

45、the crimping tool shall be closed around the crimp ring,compressing the crimp ring onto the tubing. The crimp ringshall not be crimped more than once. Each crimp shall bechecked to determine conformance to the after-crimped dimen-sional requirements of Table 1.10. Product Marking10.1 Quality of Mark

46、ingThe marking shall be applied tothe fittings in such a manner that it remains legible afterinstallation and inspection.10.2 Content of Marking:10.2.1 Marking on fittings shall include manufacturersname or trademark, or some other identifying mark, and if sizepermits, PEX/PE-RT or the ASTM standard

47、 number, or acombination thereof.10.2.1.1 Where recessed marking is used on fittings, careshall be taken to see that the marking shall not cause cracks orreduce the wall thickness below the minimum specified.10.2.2 Marking on packaging shall include manufacturersname, fitting size, and ASTM F1807.10

48、.2.3 Crimp rings:10.2.3.1 Marking on crimp rings shall include manufactur-ers trademark, or some other identifying mark, and ASTMF1807.10.2.3.2 Manufacturer of crimp rings may use an alternateidentifying marking in place of the “black in color” providedthe ring is generally natural copper color with

49、18 in. minimumblack font lettering stating “PEX” or “PE-RT,” or both legiblyprinted in two (2) locations spaced equally, approximately 180on the rings outer circumference.
