31、equirements6.1 GeneralAll performance tests shall be conducted onassemblies of fittings (cold-expansion fittings andcompression-sleeves) and PEX pipe. Fittings shall meet thematerial and dimensional requirements of this specification.PEX pipe shall meet the requirements of Specifications F 876and F
32、877. Assembly of test specimens shall be in accordancewith 9.3. Each assembly shall contain at least two joints. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance8.1 The fittings shall be made from materials that arehomogeneous throughout.
46、All sealing surfaces shall be smoothand free of foreign material. The walls of cold-expansionfittings and compression-sleeves shall be free of cracks, holes,blisters, voids, foreign inclusions, or other defects that arevisible to the unaided eye and that affect wall integrity.8.2 FlashExcept for the
47、 insert, molded polymer fittingsshall be free of flash in excess of 0.005 in. On the insert,molded polymer fittings shall be free of flash in excess of 0.002in. Flash, mismatch, and witness mark requirements for theinsert shall be in accordance with Figs. 3 and 4.8.3 SplayMolded polymer fittings sha
48、ll be free of visiblesplay excepting some light blushing at the gate location.9. Assembly9.1 Joints:9.1.1 Cold-Expansion JointsFittings shall be joined toPEX pipe by first expanding the end of the pipe with theexpander tool, inserting the cold-expansion fitting into ex-panded pipe, then pulling the
49、compression-sleeve over the PEXpipe and the fitting, compressing the pipe between thecompression-sleeve and the fitting. Cold-expansion fittings andcompression-sleeves shall meet the dimensional and materialrequirements of this specification.
