3、etal compression-sleeves for use with cross-linked polyeth-ylene (PEX) plastic pipe in38-in.,12-in.,58-in.,34-in., 1-in.,114-in., 112-in., and 2 in. nominal diameters, whereby the PEXpipe is cold-expanded before fitting assembly. These cold-expansion fittings and metal compression-sleeves are intend

4、edfor use in residential and commercial, hot and cold, potablewater distribution systems, as well as sealed central heating,including under-floor heating systems, with continuous opera-tion at pressures up to and including 100 psi (690 kPa), and attemperatures up to and including 180F (82C).1.2 Incl

5、uded in this specification are the requirements formaterials, workmanship, dimensions, and markings to be usedon the fittings and compression-sleeves. Terminology3.1 DefinitionsDefinitions of terms used in this specifica-tion are in accordance with Terminology F 412, and abbrevia-tions are in accordance with Terminology D 1600, unlessotherwise indicated.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 cross-linked polyethylene, npla

18、stics prepared bycross-linking (curing) polyethylene compounds (PEX).3.2.2 fitting assembly, ncomprised of a cold-expansionfitting and a metal compression-sleeve, whereby the PEX pipeis cold-expanded before fitting insertion, and the compression-sleeve is pulled over the PEX pipe.4. 19、1 This specification covers one class of metal and plasticcold-expansion fittings with metal compression-sleeves suit-able for use with PEX pipe that meets the requirements ofSpecifications F 876 and F 877.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 FittingsCold-expansion fittings shall be made fromone of the f

20、ollowing materials:5.1.1 Machined BrassMachined brass cold-expansion fit-tings shall be made from material meeting the requirements ofSpecification B 16/B 16M, copper-alloy UNS C36000, orSpecification B 140/B 140M, copper alloy UNS C31400, orSpecification B 283, copper-alloy UNS C89844, or StandardE

21、N 12164, Copper Alloy CW614N.5.1.2 Machined Stainless SteelMachined stainless steelcold-expansion fittings shall be made from material meetingthe requirements of Specification A 312/A 312M, stainlesssteel alloy 304L or 316L, or SpecificationA 269, stainless steelalloy 304Lor 316L, or SpecificationA

22、276, stainless steel alloy304L or 316L.5.1.3 Machined Carbon SteelMachined carbon steel cold-expansion fittings shall be made from material meeting therequirements of Specification A 108, Carbon Steel Alloy 1020or 1025, or Specification A 519, Carbon Steel Alloy 1020, or1025 or 1026.5.1.4 Forged Bra

24、equirements of Specification B62copper alloy UNS C83600,or Specification B 584, copper-alloy UNS C83800, C84400 orC89844.5.1.6 Molded PolymersMolded polymer fittings shall bemade from sulfone plastic (SP) meeting the requirements ofSpecification D 6394. Material shall be unreinforced polysul-fone (g

25、roup 01, class 1, grade 2) or polyphenylsulfone (group03, class 1, grade 2). Material may also be an unreinforcedblend of these two materials with the polyphenylsulfonecontinuous phase comprising 55 to 80 % of the blend. Fittingsshall be made from virgin plastic or reworked plastic inaccordance with

26、 5.1.6.1.5.1.6.1 Rework MaterialClean rework material of thesame commercial designation, generated from the manufactur-ers own production may be used by the same manufacturer,provided the cold-expansion fittings meet all the requirementsof this Specification. Reworked material shall not be intro-duc

27、ed at a ratio exceeding 25 % of virgin material.5.2 Compression-SleevesMetal compression-sleeves shallbe made from one of the following materials:5.2.1 Machined BrassMachined brass compression-sleeves shall be made from material meeting the requirementsof Specification B 16/B 16M copper-alloy UNS C3

28、6000, orStandard EN 12168, Copper Alloy CW614N, or StandardEN 12165, Copper Alloy CW617N.5.2.2 Machined Stainless SteelMachined stainless steelcompression-sleeves shall be made from material meeting therequirements of Specification A 312/A 312M, stainless steelalloy 304Lor 316L, or SpecificationA 26

29、9, stainless steel alloy304L or 316L, or Specification A 276, stainless steel alloy304L or 316L.5.3 PlatingPlating of either fitting component with nickelor chrome, or other metal is optional and must fall within thedimensional tolerances of this specification. Plating can notnegatively affect the q

30、uality of markings or the ability to meetS1.2.5.3.1 Nickel PlatingApplication of electroplated nickelcoating shall meet the requirements of Specifications B 689and B 851.5.3.2 Chrome PlatingApplication of electroplated chromecoating shall meet the requirements of Specification B 851.6. Performance R

31、equirements6.1 GeneralAll performance tests shall be conducted onassemblies of fittings (cold-expansion fittings andcompression-sleeves) and PEX pipe. Fittings shall meet thematerial and dimensional requirements of this specification.PEX pipe shall meet the requirements of Specifications F 876and F

32、877. Assembly of test specimens shall be in accordancewith 9.3. Each assembly shall contain at least two joints. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance8.1 The fittings shall be made from materials that arehomogeneous throughout.

46、All sealing surfaces shall be smoothand free of foreign material. The walls of cold-expansionfittings and compression-sleeves shall be free of cracks, holes,blisters, voids, foreign inclusions, or other defects that arevisible to the unaided eye and that affect wall integrity.8.2 FlashExcept for the

47、 insert, molded polymer fittingsshall be free of flash in excess of 0.005 in. On the insert,molded polymer fittings shall be free of flash in excess of 0.002in. Flash, mismatch, and witness mark requirements for theinsert shall be in accordance with Figs. 3 and 4.8.3 SplayMolded polymer fittings sha

48、ll be free of visiblesplay excepting some light blushing at the gate location.9. Assembly9.1 Joints:9.1.1 Cold-Expansion JointsFittings shall be joined toPEX pipe by first expanding the end of the pipe with theexpander tool, inserting the cold-expansion fitting into ex-panded pipe, then pulling the

49、compression-sleeve over the PEXpipe and the fitting, compressing the pipe between thecompression-sleeve and the fitting. Cold-expansion fittings andcompression-sleeves shall meet the dimensional and materialrequirements of this specification.
