3、. Scope1.1 This specification covers chlorinated poly(vinyl chlo-ride) (CPVC) threaded Schedule 80 pipe fittings. Included arerequirements for materials, workmanship, dimensions, andburst pressure.NOTE 1The CPVC fittings covered by this specification were coveredpreviously in Specification D 2464.1.
4、2 The products covered by this specification are intendedfor use with the distribution of pressurized liquids only, whichare chemically compatible with the piping materials. Due toinherent hazards associated with testing components and sys-tems with compressed air or other compressed gases somemanuf

In-line fittings, such as couplings, unions, bushings,caps, nipples, etc., shall be molded or machined from extrudedstock.4.1.2 Fittings fabricated by backwelding are not included inthis specification.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 This specification covers CPVC pipe fittings
17、made fromcompounds meeting the requirements of Class 23447 asdefined in Specification D 1784.NOTE 3Mechanical strength, heat resistance, flammability, andchemical resistance requirements are covered in Specification D 1784.5.2 Rework MaterialThe manufacturers shall use onlytheir own clean rework fit
18、ting material and the fittings pro-duced shall meet all the requirements of this specification.6. Requirements Requirements6.1 Dimensions and Tolerances:6.1.1 The dimensions and tolerances of the fittings shall beas shown in Table 1 and Table 2 when measured in accordancewith Test Method D 2122. Min
19、imum dimensions have zeronegative tolerances. Bushings shall have thread lengths appli-cable to the corresponding sizes. Counterbore, which is op-tional, is not shown in Table 1, and is not included in thecenter-to-end or end-to-end dimensions.6.1.2 Fittings Not IllustratedAll fittings, whether illu
20、s-trated in Table 1 and Table 2 or not, shall have wall thicknessesand thread dimensions conforming to 6.1 and 6.2.6.2 ThreadsFor all fittings having taper pipe threads,threads shall conform to Specification F 1498 and be gaged inaccordance with 8.4.6.3 Burst Pressure:6.3.1 The minimum burst strengt

23、ty.7. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 The fittings shall be homogeneous throughout and freeof cracks, holes, foreign inclusions, or other defects. 30、prior to test in accordance with Procedure A ofPractice D 618, for those tests where conditioning is required.8.2 Test ConditionsConduct tests in the Standard Labora-tory Atmosphere of 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 5%relative humidity, unless otherwise specified in the test meth-ods or in this spec
31、ification.8.3 SamplingA sufficient quantity of fittings as agreedupon between the seller and the purchaser shall be selected atrandom from each lot or shipment and tested to determine thatthe basic design is in conformance with this specification.NOTE 4For individual orders or specifications where s
32、upplementaltests are required, only those tests and numbers of tests specifically agreedupon between the purchaser and seller need be conducted.8.4 ThreadsAll taper pipe threads shall be gaged inaccordance with Specification F 1498.8.5 Burst PressureDetermine the minimum burst pressurewith at least
33、five specimens in accordance with Test MethodD 1599. Join the fittings to the pipe sufficiently strong and insuch a manner that no failures shall occur in the assembly at apressure less than the pressure requirement given in Table 3.The time of testing each assembly shall be between 60 and 70s.9. Re
34、test and Rejection9.1 If the results of any test(s) do not meet the requirementsof this specification, the tests(s) shall be conducted again onlyby agreement between the purchaser and seller. Under suchagreement, minimum requirements shall not be lowered,changed, or modified, nor shall specification
35、 limits be changed.If upon retest, failure occurs, the quantity of product repre-sented by the test(s) does not meet the requirements of thisspecification.10. Product Marking10.1 Quality of MarkingThe markings shall be applied tothe fittings in such a manner that they remain legible undernormal hand
