Terminology3.1 Definitions are in accordance with Terminology F 412and abbreviations are in accordance with Terminology D 1600,unless otherwise specified. The abbreviation for poly(vinylch

9、loride) is PVC.3.23.2.1 external recycled materialindustrial rework gener-ated by a different company manufacturing to this specifica-tion. Composition is known by the industrial source of thematerial.3.2.2 post-consumer recycled materialfinished goods thathave been purchased by the public, then ret

10、urned to industryand reprocessed into raw materials. Identity of finished goodsis known by the reprocessing company.3.2.3 certificate of compositiona certificate describing thecertain properties of an external recycled material of a postconsumer recycled material.3.2.4 composition disclosurea docume

11、nt describing theformulation of an external recycled material.4. Classification4.1 This specification covers five types of undergroundconduit. There are two having lesser pipe stiffness values,designed primarily for concrete encased burial (EB), and threewith greater pipe stiffness values, designed

12、primarily for directburial (DB). The complete designations follow:Type EB-20 Designed to be encased in concrete.Type EB-35 Designed to be encased in concrete.Type DB-60 Designed for direct burial without encasement in concrete.Type DB-100 Designed for direct burial without encasement in concrete.Typ

13、e DB-120 Designed for direct burial without encasement in concrete.4.2 This specification covers conduit with integral bells, orwith either separate or attached couplings.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee F17 on PlasticPiping and is the direct responsibility of Subcommi

Materials5.1 Basic MaterialsThe conduit shall be made of virginhomopolymer PVC compound having a cell classification of12254, 121643(with a minimum tensile strength of 4000 psi(28 MPa), or 12264(with a minimum tensile modulus of500 000 psi) as defined in Specifi

17、cation D 1784. Moldedfittings shall be made from PVC compound having a cellclassification of 12234 or 13343 as defined in SpecificationD 1784. Homopolymer PVC compounds must equal or exceedthe requirements of the listed cell classification numbers.5.2 Rework MaterialsRework material from the manufac

18、-turers own conduit or fittings production may be used by thesame manufacturer, provided that the conduit or fittings pro-duced meet all of the requirements of this specification.5.3 Recycled PVC MaterialsRecycled PVC materialsconforming to the cell classification of this specification maybe used pr

19、ovided they are clean and free from foreign materialsand provided that the conduit or fittings produced meet allrequirements of this specification.5.4 Solvent CementThe solvent cement shall meet therequirements of Specification D 2564.6. Requirements6.1 WorkmanshipThe conduit and fittings shall be h

20、omo-geneous throughout, and free from visible cracks, holes,foreign inclusions, or other injurious defects. The conduit andfittings shall be as uniform as is commercially practical incolor, opacity, density, and other physical properties.6.2 Dimensions:6.2.1 Dimensions shall be determined in accorda

21、nce withTest Method D 2122.6.2.2 The dimensions and tolerances of the conduit shall beas specified in Table 1.6.2.3 LengthsConduit shall be supplied in lengths of 20 or25 ft, or as otherwise agreed upon between the purchaser andthe seller. A length shall be considered to be the overall lengthof the

22、conduit, including integral bell, or coupling if attached,unless otherwise specified. Tolerance on length shall be 61 in.(625 mm).6.2.4 Integral Bell Dimensions:6.2.4.1 Two systems of fit for integral bells are in commonuse. Unless otherwise specified, the manufacturer may employeither of them.6.2.4

23、.2 Interference Fit SystemThe dimensions and toler-ances listed in Columns A and B of Table 1 in SpecificationD 2466 provide a satisfactory interference fit system betweenpipe and socket.6.2.4.3 Clearance Fit SystemThe dimensions and toler-ances listed in Table 2 of this specification provide a sati

24、sfac-tory clearance fit system.6.2.5 The wall thickness of integral bells and sweeps shallbe considered satisfactory if formed from conduit which meetsthe minimum requirements of this specification.6.2.6 Socket depths for integral bells shall conform to therequirements listed in Table 2.6.2.7 Integr

25、al belled ends shall be centered to provide avisible shoulder around the entire circumference.6.2.8 The inside diameters of spigot ends shall be chamferedas shown in Fig. 1.6.2.9 Fittings and Sweep Dimensions:6.2.9.1 The dimensions and types of conduit fittings shall beas specified in Tables 3-17.6.

26、2.9.2 Conduit fittings shall be capable of passing a ball14in. (6 mm) less in diameter than the nominal size of theconduit.6.2.9.3 The dimensions of sweeps and bends shall be asspecified in Table 17. Sweeps and bends shall be made fromDB-60 or DB-120 conduit. Sweeps made from DB-60 conduitare intend

27、ed for use with EB-20 and DB-60 conduit. Sweepsmade from DB-120 conduit are intended for use with EB-35and DB-120 conduit.6.3 Minimum Pipe Stiffness:6.3.1 The minimum pipe stiffness (F/Dy) values for conduitshall be in conformance with Table 18, when tested inaccordance with 8.3. Three specimens sha

28、ll be tested, all shallmeet the requirements.6.3.2 Referee TestThe minimum pipe stiffness (F/Dy)values shall be in accordance with Table 18 when tested inaccordance with Test Method D 2412 at 5 % deflection.6.4 Impact StrengthThe minimum drop weight impactstrength values for conduit shall be as list

29、ed in Table 19, whentested in accordance with 8.1.6.4.1 The impact test is a quality control test, to be per-formed at the time of manufacture.6.5 Joint Tightness (Referee Test)The joints shall not leakwhen tested in accordance with 8.2.6.6 Extrusion QualityThe conduit shall not flake or dis-integra

30、te when tested in accordance with Test Method D 2152.7. Conditioning7.1 Referee TestingWhen conditioning is required forreferee tests, condition the specimens in accordance withProcedure A in Methods D 618 at 23 6 2C and 50 6 5%relative humidity for not less than 40 h prior to test. Conducttests und

31、er the same conditions of temperature and humidity,unless otherwise specified.7.2 Quality Control:3Supporting data have been filed at ASTM International Headquarters and maybe obtained by requesting Research Report RR:F17-1002 . 32、specimens for aminimum of3hinair,or1hinliquid at 23 6 2C (70 to77F). Test the specimens at 23 6 2C without regard torelative humidity.7.2.2 For the impact test, condition specimens for at least 30min at 0 to 1.6C (32 to 35F).8. Test Methods8.1 Impact ResistanceTest and evaluate five specimens,each 6

33、 6116 in. (150 6 2 mm) long, in accordance with TestMethod D 2444, using a 20-lb Tup B, and the flat plate (HolderB). When testing is performed at temperatures above 0C, nomore than 15 s shall elapse from the time of removal of thespecimen from the conditioning medium until completion ofthat test. S

34、pecimens may be positioned with a random surfaceuppermost, but must be located so that the contact point iscentered. All five specimens shall pass. If one specimen fails,test another five specimens: nine out of ten specimens passingshall be acceptable.8.2 Joint Tightness (Referee Test)Cement a secti

35、on ofconduit to a bell, using the manufacturers recommendationsor, in their absence, the methods described in Practice D 2855.Unless otherwise specified, allow the assembly to stand for atleast 6 h. Then subject the assembly to an internal pressure ofat least 25 psi (170 kPa), using water as the tes

36、t medium.Maintain the pressure for at least 1 h. There shall be noleakage.8.3 Pipe StiffnessDetermine the pipe stiffness (F/Dy)at5 % deflection of inside diameter, as described in Test MethodD 2412. Test three specimens each 6 6116 in. (150 6 2 mm)long. Place each specimen so that the minimum wall t

37、hicknessis uppermost (adjacent to the top bearing plate). Measure thevertical inside diameter before compressing the specimen.Compress the specimen at the rate of12 in. (13 mm)/min, andrecord the load at the point where the vertical inside diameteris equal to 95 % of the original inside diameter of

38、thespecimen.9. Inspection9.1 Inspection of the material shall be made as agreed uponbetween the purchaser and the seller as part of the purchasecontract.10. Retest and Rejection10.1 If the results of any test(s) do not meet the require-ments of this specification, the test(s) may be conducted againi

39、n accordance with an agreement between the purchaser andthe seller. There shall be no agreement to lower the minimumrequirement of the specification by such means as omittingtests that are a part of the specification, substituting ormodifying a test method, or by changing the specificationlimits. In

40、 retesting, the product requirements of this specifica-tion shall be met, and the test methods designated in thespecification shall be followed. If, upon retest, failure occurs,the quantity of product represented by the test(s) does not meetthe requirements of this specification.11. Certification11.

41、1 A manufacturer shall provide certification that theproduct was manufactured in accordance with the requirementsof this specification signed by an authorized agent, providedthat the user, purchaser, or specifying agency, or combinationthereof, so request in the purchase order or contract. Further-m

42、ore, when agreed upon between the manufacturer and theuser, purchaser, or specifying agency, or combination thereof,and preferably prior to the date of manufacture, the manufac-turer shall provide test data and the date on which tests wereconducted for a specific lot or shipment of product made unde

43、rthis specification.12. Product Marking12.1 Conduit shall be clearly marked with the manufactur-ers name or trademark, PVC cell classification (that is: PVC12254-A, PVC 12254-B, PVC 12164-B, PVC 12264-A, orPVC 12264-B), size, type of conduit (for example, DB-60), theminimum wall thickness, code or c

44、ontrol number, and thisdesignation “ASTM F 512” at intervals of 5 ft (1.5 m) or less.Any additional marking deemed necessary by the manufactureris permitted.12.2 Sweeps and bends shall be made from conduit that ismarked in accordance with 11.1. In addition, the bend radiusand the degrees shall be ma

45、rked (for example, 189 R 30 for18-in. radius 30 bend).12.3 Fittings shall be marked with the manufacturers nameor trademark, the conduit size, the phrase “PVC,” and thisdesignation “ASTM F 512.” Where fitting size does not permitlegible marking, the packaging shall carry the designatedinformation.12

46、.4 The minimum letter size permitted on conduit, sweeps,and bends is14 in. (6 mm).12.5 Upon agreement between the manufacturer and pur-chaser, or at the manufacturers option, for sizes 2 through 6in., the spigot end of each conduit length shall have acircumferential ring mark, or depth of entry mark

47、, placed at adistance from the conduit end equal to14 in. (6 mm) more thanthe depth of the socket of the integral bell or attached couplingsupplied on the conduit.13. Packaging13.1 Conduit sweeps and bends shall be packaged to protectthem during shipment, handling, and subsequent storage.13.2 Condui

48、t shall be packaged in units not to exceed 5 ft inwidth, no less than 1 ft nor greater than 4 ft in height. Packagedunits shall be capable of supporting no less than 10 ft in heightof packaged units without damaging the packaged conduit.Packaged conduit units shall have provisions for fork liftingeq

49、uipment.F51206313.3 Fittings and cement shall be packaged in suitablecontainers. Containers with volume greater than 30 ft3shallhave provisions for fork lifting equipment.14.
