、nificance and Use3.1 This practice is for determining the color response of anelectrostatic copy system by examining the black and whitecopies obtained from an electrostatic copier. This practicecovers the capability of a copy system to reproduce varioussolid colors in varying shades of grey or blac
、k and white.4. Interferences4.1 This practice can be used to measure the color responsefor different copy system conditions (machine adjustments, machine configuration, supplies, environment, and so forth). These conditions should be noted so that comparison tests canbe made.4.2 In liquid developed co
、piers, the system color response isstrongly dependent on the condition (that is, age, concentra-tion, and so forth) of the toner bath. As a liquid toner is cycledthrough depletion and replenishment, color response may showwide fluctuations even though fluctuations in other copyquality criteria (for
、example, background, edge effect, resolu-tion, and density) may not be altered. (See Terminology F 335.)4.3 In dry toned copiers, the system color response isstrongly dependent on the age and condition of the photocon-ductor and developer and may also show wide fluctuations incolor response even tho

Materials6.1 Copy paper, toning supplies, photoreceptor, and so forthshould be approved materials currently
、 used by the evaluator.Any change of supplies from one manufacturer to those ofanother may alter the test results.7. Procedure7.1 Prepare a test target in accordance with the Test Originalsection described in Practice F 360. Select Munsell ColorChips appropriate to their copying needs and adhere by
、anysuitable method those selected chips on a suitable papersubstrate (starting in the center of the substrate) allowingspatial intervals between the chips of at least 3.8 cm (112 in.).7.1.1 Alternate commercially available color composite tar-gets can be selected and used as a target.7.1.2 If the cu
