Significance and Use4.1 There are several live animal or carcass evaluationdevices or systems used or under developm
9、ent for use indetermination of economic value of live animals, carcasses, orindividual cuts of meat. The correct use of these devices orsystems may affect the reliability of the data.4.2 This practice provides user requirements for installation,operator training, operation, verification, inspection,
10、 mainte-nance, and retention of original data.5. Procedure5.1 InstallationAccurate and consistent results can onlybe obtained from a device or equipment that is properlyinstalled and operated. The user shall maintain documentationthat, at the time of installation, the measuring device wasproperly in
11、stalled according to design specifications and manu-facturers requirements.5.2 Operator Training:5.2.1 The user shall establish a documented training pro-gram which shall include an operator manual to ensure deviceoperators are familiar with the design and operating character-istics of the devices o
12、r systems that the user installs, maintains,and operates. The user shall properly train device operators andmaintain documentation that device operators are properlytrained. Assistance in operator training may be obtained fromseveral sources including, but not limited to, device manufac-turer, manuf
13、acturer device manuals, or trained service person-nel.5.2.2 For those devices or systems requiring an operator, theuser shall develop and maintain individual operator perfor-mance records, including individual operator error rates, whichshall be measured against standards established by the user.1Th

17、t has implemented itscorrective action plan.5.3 Operation:5.3.1 User shall ensure that the device or system is operatedas recommended by the manufacturer, consistent with themanufacturers current instruction manual, unless an alterna-tive method of use has been established by the user consistentwith
18、 ASTM Committee F10 standards and disclosed to theseller or appropriate government agency, or both, when re-quired by law or regulation as an alternate method.5.3.2 User shall develop, document and make available tothe seller and appropriate government agency, when requiredby law or regulation, a co
19、ntingency plan for any alternate valuedetermination process to be used in the event of equipmentfailure.5.3.3 User shall disclose to the seller and appropriategovernment agency, when required by law or regulation, aplanned change in the type of device or system used for valuedetermination prior to i
20、mplementation.5.4 VerificationUser shall verify and document the accu-racy of a device or system by the proper test method, prior tothe initial use of the device on each production day or morefrequently if recommended by the manufacturer. Re-verification of the accuracy of the device should occur wh
21、en-ever damage is suspected to have occurred, when significantrepairs have been made, or as circumstances warrant.5.5 InspectionThe user shall, utilizing manufacturersrecommendations, develop an inspection checklist and conductand document the inspection in conjunction with the produc-tion day verif
22、ication (see 5.4). The inspection shall include thedevice or system, all auxiliary equipment, and environmentalconditions that may affect the device or operator performance.5.6 Maintenance:5.6.1 User shall perform routine maintenance as needed oras recommended, or both, by the manufacturer.5.6.2 Ina
23、ccurate devices shall be corrected or removed fromuse by the user.5.7 Retention of Original Data:5.7.1 The user shall establish and document proceduresused for retention of original data.5.7.2 The user shall develop and implement procedures todocument the exclusion of original data or substitution o
24、f datafor original data. The user shall disclose to the seller any timethe user excludes original data or substitutes data for originaldata.6.
