Significance and Use4.1 The requirements of this specification are intended toprovide pipe and fittings suitable for non-pressure drainage ofsewage and surface water.NOTE 1Industrial waste disposal lines should be installed only withthe specif

Basic Materials5.1 Pipe shall be made of PVC plastic having a cellclassification of 12454 or 12364 as defined in SpecificationD 1784.5.2 Fittings shall be made of PVC plastic
17、 having a cellclassification of 12454 or 13343 as defined in SpecificationD 1784.5.3 Pipe and FittingCompounds that have different cellclassifications, because one or more properties are superior tothose of the specified compounds, are also acceptable.5.4 Rework MaterialThe manufacturer shall use on
18、ly hisown clean pipe or fitting rework material; the pipe and fittingsproduced shall meet all the requirements of this specification.6. Joining Systems6.1 Solvent Cement Joints for Pipe and FittingsIn thesolvent cement joint, the pipe spigot wedges into the taperedsocket and the surfaces fuse togeth
19、er. The tapered socket maybe a portion of a molded fitting or it may be a belled end of thepipe section. Formed bells shall be concentric with the pipeaxis. Fittings meeting the requirements of Specification D 3034shall also be permitted to be used with pipe meeting therequirements of this standard.
20、6.1.1 The assembly of joints shall be in accordance withPractice D 2855.6.1.2 Joint TightnessJoints made with pipe and fittingsshall show no signs of leakage when tested in accordance with8.9.7. Requirements7.1 WorkmanshipThe pipe and fittings shall be homoge-neous throughout and free from visible c
21、racks, holes, foreigninclusions, or other injurious defects. The pipe shall be asuniform as commercially practical in color, opacity, density,and other physical properties.7.2 Pipe Requirements:7.2.1 DiameterThe average outside diameter of the pipeshall meet the requirements given in Table 1 when me
22、asured inaccordance with 8.4.1.NOTE 3As larger sizes of sewer pipe are needed, it is recommendedthat they be made with the following outside diameters: 475, 560, and 630mm.7.2.2 Wall ThicknessPipe wall thicknesses shall meet therequirements of Table 1 when measured in accordance withTest Method D 21
23、22 and 8.4.2. In the case of belled pipe andfittings fabricated from pipe sections, the thickness of the wallin the bell shall be considered satisfactory if it was formedfrom pipe meeting the preceding requirements.7.2.3 Pipe FlatteningThere shall be no evidence of split-ting, cracking, or breaking
24、when pipe is tested in accordancewith 8.6.7.2.4 Pipe Impact StrengthThe impact strength of thepipe shall not be less than the values given in Table 2 whentested in accordance with 8.7.NOTE 4This test is intended only for use as a quality control test, notas a simulated service test.7.2.5 Pipe Stiffn
25、essPipe stiffness values for the pipe shallcomply with Table 3 when tested in accordance with 8.8.7.2.6 Pipe Extrusion QualityThe pipe shall not flake ordisintegrate when tested in accordance with 8.10.7.3 Requirements for Solvent Cemented Pipe and Fittings:7.3.1 Socket DiameterThe inside diameter o
26、f the taperedsocket shall comply with the dimensions listed in Table 4 whendetermined in accordance with 8.5.1.7.3.2 Socket DepthThe socket depth shall not be less thanthat shown in Table 4 when measured in accordance with 8.5.2.7.3.3 Alternate FittingsFittings meeting the requirementsof Specificati
27、on D 3034 shall also be permitted to be used injoining pipe specified in this standard.7.3.4 Spigot LengthThe minimum distance from thespigot end to the area where the spigot diameter changes due toa socket, branch, or change in angle shall comply with the “C”dimension of Table 4.7.4 Fabricated Fitt
28、ingsAny fitting made from pipe orfrom a combination of pipe and molded parts shall be consid-ered a fabricated fitting and the following provisions shallapply.7.4.1 Over-Wrapped FittingsFabricated fittings that havean over-wrap of fiberglass reinforced thermosetting resin orother similar materials s
29、hall meet all of the requirements in7.4.2 and 7.4.3.NOTE 5Refer to Appendix X3 for geometric configurations of someof the fittings being produced. Consult the individual manufacturer forlaying lengths.7.4.2 Fabricated Fittings General Requirements:7.4.2.1 Pipe used in fabricated fittings shall meet

33、ints exposed to sewage shall berounded and free from any rough parts that could catch solids.7.4.2.5 No fitting shall have an inside diameter dimensionsmaller than the base inside diameter listed in Table X1.1 forthat pipe size and DR.7.4.2.6 All welds and solvent cement joints shall be soundand fre
34、e of visible defects.7.4.3 Fabrication Joint Test Requirements:7.4.3.1 These test requirements apply only to tee, wye, andbend fabricated fittings that are manufactured using fabricationmethods that join together a combination of pipe sections orpipe sections and molded parts to form a fitting confi
35、guration.Other fitting configurations using the same manufacturingprocedures as those tested successfully shall be suitable for saleand use. Fittings fabricated from a single-piece of pipe to formBends and Sweeps shall not be subject to this requirement.NOTE 6A brittle fitting may violently fragment
36、 during testing. Topreclude serious injury or death, suitable and appropriate safety proce-dures shall be used during any test procedure.7.4.3.2 Fabricated fittings shall be supported along thefitting centerline on a flat wooden block or blocks as shown inFigs. 1 and 2.(1) The width of the wooden bl
37、ocks shall be not less than66 % of the nominal fitting body size being tested for fabri-cated fittings up to 18 in. and 12 in. (305 mm) in width fornominal body sizes over 18 in.(2) The thickness of the wooden blocks shall be neither lessthan, nor more than 1 in. (25.4 mm) greater than the differenc
38、ebetween the largest outside diameter on the bell and the outsideof the body being tested.(3) The wooden blocks shall stop 1 618 in. (25.4 6 3.2mm) from the fitting bells and when required for bends shall bemitered as indicated in Fig. 2 so that the wooden blocks coverthe entire centerline of the fa
39、bricated fitting being tested.NOTE 7The wooden blocks shall be made from an available softwoodand the type of wood shall be noted on the test report.NOTE 8When comparative testing is being performed between labsthe same type of softwood blocks shall be used.7.4.4 Deflect the fabricated fitting by ap
40、plying the load,calculated from the values given in Table 5 to the body of thefitting as shown in Fig. 1. The body length for this calculationshall not include any part of a taper or transitional area betweenthe fitting body and the bell as shown in Fig. 2. Apply thecalculated load at a constant rat
41、e overa1to2minperiod andthen maintain the load for 5 (five) minutes. 44、been maintained for 5 (five) minutes. Any evidence of crack-ing, splitting, breaking, or separation shall constitute failure ofthis requirement.7.4.4.2 After completing the load test, plug all openings andpressure test at a gage pressure of 10.8 psi (74 kPa) 25-ft headof water for 10 min. Any visibl
45、e leakage of water at thefabrication joint or through the body constitutes failure to meetthis requirement.NOTE 9These test requirements have been selected to evaluate qualityof fabrication. They are not intended to simulate service conditions or torequire testing of every fitting.7.4.4.3 All tested
46、 fittings shall be destroyed. Tested fittingsshall not be suitable for sale and/or use.NOTE 10If the test samples are to be retained they shall be perma-nently marked in such a way as to indicate that they have been tested.7.5 Solvent CementThe cement shall meet the require-ments of Specification D
47、2564.8. Test Methods8.1 ConditioningCondition the test specimens at23 6 2C (73.4 6 3.6F) and 50 6 5 % relative humidity fornot less than 40 h prior to test in accordance with Procedure Aof Practice D 618, for those tests where conditioning isrequired.8.2 Test ConditionsConduct tests in the standard
48、labora-tory atmosphere of 23 6 2C and 50 6 5 % relative humidity,unless otherwise specified in the test methods or in thisspecification.8.3 SamplingThe selection of the sample or samples ofpipe or fitting shall be as agreed upon between the purchaserand the seller. In case of no prior agreement, any
49、 sampleselected by the testing laboratory shall be deemed adequate.8.4 Pipe Dimensions:8.4.1 Pipe DiametersMeasure the average outside diam-eter of the pipe in accordance with the applicable section ofTest Method D 2122. Either a tapered sleeve gage or a verniercircumferential wrap tape accurate to 60.02 mm (60.001 in.)may be used.8.4.2 Wall ThicknessMeasure the wall thickness in accor-dance with the applicable section of Test Method D 2122.Make sufficient readings, a minimum of six, to ensure that theminimum thickness has been determined.
