The AWS Certified WelderProgram provides a means for the transference of welder qualifications from employer to employer without retesting.This specification defines the minimum requirements for welder participation in the program and the methods to be usedby emplo

7、l standards (codes, specifications, recommended practices, methods, classifications, and guides) of the AmericanWelding Society (AWS) are voluntary consensus standards that are developed through a consensus standards develop-ment process that brings together volunteers representing varied viewpoints

8、 and interests to achieve consensus. While theAmerican Welding Society administers the process and establishes rules to promote fairness in the development of con-sensus, it does not independently test, evaluate, or verify the accuracy of any information or the soundness of any judg-ments contained

9、in its standards. Further, given the rapid changes in the field, AWS cannot warrant that the certificationstandard will at all times reflect the most current knowledge.Certification is achieved by satisfying a combination of defined education, experience, and/or examination requirements.Certificatio

10、n is not an assurance of future competence or ability.An endorsement to a certification adds to a certification by indicating demonstration of a knowledge, skill, or ability in aparticular skill area that may not be sufficiently broad or unique to support a separate and distinct certification design

Specified limits placed on characteristics of an item, process, or service as defined in governingwelding standards or other contract documents.accreditation. Certification as being able to meet a prescribed standard.Accredited Custom Program. An o

27、rganization that owns and maintains direct oversight and responsibility of theCustom Program with the endorsement of AWS.Accredited Test Facility (ATF). A facility that applies to the AWS and receives accreditation. An Accredited TestFacility may be a laboratory that does not perform welder qualific

28、ation testing.AWS Certified Welder. A welder who meets the requirements of QC47 for welder performance qualification.AWS National Registry of Certified Welders. A database of welders who have successfully passed a performance qual-ification test in accordance with this specification and who have met

29、 all requirements for maintenance of certification.Access to information in the AWS National Registry of Certified Welders may provide for acceptance of welder pro-ficiency from employer to employer.certification. The act of determining, verifying, and attesting in writing to the qualification of pe

30、rsonnel in accordancewith specified requirements.certificate of conformance. As used in this certification specification, the certificate of conformance shows that the sup-plier has certified that the product is manufactured to specific requirements such as ASTM for base materials, or AWSfor welding

An electronic identifier that is created by a computer and is intended by the party using it to havethe same intent, affect, and authority as the use of a manual (either written or facsimile) signature.Facility Manager. An individual(s) designated by the Accredited

32、 Test Facility (ATF) who can make legally bindingcommitments and statements on behalf of the ATF.Facility Representative. An individual(s) designated by the ATF that is a manager who has administrative responsibil-ity for the ATF and is also responsible for the direction and implementation of all of

33、 the requirements defined in thiscertification specification for the ATF.governing standard. The industry standard that is selected and used to determine the specific test method and acceptancecriteria for visual inspection and NDE of test coupons. A standard may be a code, specification, recommende

34、d practice, method, classification, or guide. Some common choices are AWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, API 1104, and ASME IX.Independent Qualifier (IQ). A Qualifier who is employed independent of ATF(s) to administer welder performancetesting.inspection. Examination or measurement to verify whether an item or ac

35、tivity conforms to specified requirements.inspector. A person who performs inspection activities to verify conformance to specified requirements.Performance Qualification Test Record (PQTR). Documentation by the Qualifier of an acceptable welder perfor-mance test.Program Owner. The organization that

36、 owns and maintains direct oversight and responsibility of the Custom Programwith the endorsement of AWS.Qualifier. A CWI or SCWI who is qualified in accordance with this specification to conduct welder qualification tests.The Qualifier shall pass the Welder Qualification endorsement, complete speci

37、fic QC47 training and examination, andregister with the AWS Certification Department.Quality Manager. An individual designated by the ATF to be responsible for quality management system complianceby maintaining documentation, document control, quality policies, procedures, processes, programs, and p

38、ractices toassure the ATFs continuous conformance with the QC47.quality procedure. Documentation of how a particular operation is performed.quality record. A document that provides evidence that activities have been performed or results have been achieved.Representative Material Test Report (MTR). A

39、 typical document provided by the supplier indicating the material con-forms with the requirements of the standard or specification referenced by the purchase order. The MTR typically liststhe acceptable ranges of the elements present and the acceptable ranges for the mechanical properties, i.e., ul

40、timateAWS QC47:20163tensile strength, yield strength, elongations, hardness, etc. as specified by the applicable material specification. Thechemistry and the mechanical properties listed on the MTR are not specific to a particular heat number or the specificmaterial delivered.routing sheet. An AWS d

41、ocument used by all Qualifiers to capture required test information, deliver consistent instruc-tion, and provide consistent test information in sequence to test candidates. The routing sheet also includes a sequen-tial list of mandatory hold points where a visual inspection is performed for accepta

42、nce.test. When used in this document, unless otherwise specified, the term refers to the welder performance test.test candidate. A person who is applying to be certified or qualified as a welder in accordance with the requirements ofQC47.verification. The act of reviewing, inspecting, testing, check

43、ing, auditing, or otherwise determining and documentingwhether items, processes, services, and documents conform to specified requirements.welder. One who performs manual, semiautomatic, mechanized, or automatic welding. The term welder as used in thisdocument also refers to operators, brazers, and

44、plastics welders.welding. The term welding as used in this document also refers to brazing and plastics welding.Welder Qualification Endorsement. A unique endorsement to the AWS QC1 Program that tests the CWI or SCWIsknowledge and capability of conducting welder performance qualification tests.4. We

45、ldersGeneral Responsibilities4.1 Welders shall:(1) Complete the application using accurate information.(2) Be aware and agree to the applicable welding code/standard, process, test description, WPS, type of the qualifica-tion test to be administered, and the applicable visual acceptance criteria.(3)

46、 Provide government-issued picture identification at the time of the welding test.(4) Arrive at the ATF or test site properly attired and with appropriate tools and personal protective equipment (PPE)to take the test.(5) Be prepared to follow the applicable WPS and all directions given by the Qualif

47、ier.(6) Complete the assigned task to the best of their ability.(7) Conduct all operations in a safe manner and bring to the attention of the Qualifier any issues related to safety orthe conduct of the performance test. Be prepared to take a welder performance qualification test.(8) Safeguard all cr

48、edentials that are issued.(9) Maintain the continuity requirements and other program requirements.(10) Sign a completed mandatory AWS-provided routing sheet.5. Employers of AWS Certified WeldersResponsibilities5.1 The employers shall:(1) Accept responsibility for the work of their employees.(2) Choo

49、se an appropriate WPS for testing that correlates with production work or other requirements.(3) Be fully aware of the provisions and limitations of the requirements of this specification and extent of qualifica-tions as stated on the AWS certified welders credentials and how they apply to any work performed.AWS QC47:201646.
