Radionavigational aids No. Term Definition 14101 aeronautical broadcasting service A radiocommunication service provided for the broadcast transmission of information relating to air navigation. 14102 aeronautical fixed telecommunication network (AFTN)

9、A telecommunication service between specified fixed points, intended for the transmission of information relating to air navigation, preparation for and safety of flight. 14103 aeronautical fixed station A station in the aeronautical fixed telecommunication network. 14104 aeronautical mobile service

10、 A service of radiocommunication between aircraft stations and aeronautical stations, or between aircraft stations. 14105 aeronautical station A station in the aeronautical mobile service. It may be placed on board a ship or in a satellite. 14106 aircraft station A radio station located in an aircra

11、ft. 14201 approach aids Systems designed to assist aircraft to make an approach along a chosen track or path. 14202 approach control radar (ACR) A type of surveillance radar displaying at an aerodrome the range and azimuth of aircraft within its cover. 14203 glide-path beacon A directional radio bea

12、con, forming part of the instrument landing system, which provides in the aircraft the vertical guidance necessary for landing. 14204 ground-controlled approachsystem A system of radionavigation comprising a surveillance radar element and a precision approach radar (PAR) element to facilitate a grou

13、nd-controlled approach(13268). 14205 instrument landing system (ILS) A system of radionavigation, intended to assist aircraft in landing, which provides lateral and vertical guidance, including, at specific points, indications of distance from the optimum point of landing. 14206 localizer A directio

14、nal radio beacon, forming part of the instrument landing system, which provides to an aircraft an indication of its lateral position relative to a specific runway. 14207 marker beacons See14303 to14305. 14208 precision-approach radar (PAR) Primary radar equipment used to determine accurately the pos

15、ition in range, azimuth and level of an aircraft during its approach relative to the selected approach path. 14209 radial selector A manually operated navigation instrument that operates in conjunction with a VOR receiver to show direction to or from the VOR station. 14210 radio compass A radio dire

16、ction-finder which indicates the bearing of the transmitter to which the receiver is tuned. 14211 surveillance radar Primary radar equipment used to establish the range and azimuth of aircraft.BS185:Section 14:1972 2 BSI 02-2000 Subsection 143. 17、tion 14212 secondary surveillance radar (SSR) A surveillance radar which interrogates the aircraft fixed transponder and displays a coded reply upon the primary display. 14213 terrain clearance warning indicator An airborne radionavigational device giving a warning signal when the clearance between

18、the aircraft and the Earth immediately below reaches a predetermined minimum value. 14214 weather radar CLOUD AND COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM A primary-radar equipment in an aircraft providing, usually, by a cathode-ray tube display, indication of the position of precipitation sized particles, other ai

19、rcraft or high ground. It may also be operated from the ground. 14301 locator beacon A non-directional radio beacon of low power, associated with an instrument landing system. 14302 marker beacon A radio beacon which radiates vertically a distinctive signal for providing position information to airc

20、raft. 14303 outer marker beacon A marker beacon, associated with the instrument landing system, used to define the first predetermined point during an instrument approach. 14304 middle marker beacon A marker beacon, associated with the instrument landing system, used to define the second predetermin

21、ed point during an instrument approach. 14305 inner marker beacon A marker beacon, associated with the instrument landing system, used to define the final predetermined point during an instrument approach and to indicate the proximity of the runway threshold. 14306 fan marker-beacon A form of marker

22、 beacon radiating a vertical fan-shaped pattern. 14307 Z marker-beacon A form of marker beacon radiating a vertical cone-shaped pattern. 14308 non-directional beacon A transmitter used as a beacon, the bearing of which can be determined by an aircraft equipped for direction-finding. 14309 omni-direc

23、tional beacon A beacon radiating in all directions and providing a datum in relation to which a bearing is obtainable in an aircraft. aerials 14401 loop aerial FRAME AERIAL An aerial, consisting of one or more turns of a conductor, either self-supporting or with a protective covering, used for direc

24、tion-finding and communication. 14402 fixed loop aerial A loop aerial permanently fixed with respect to the centre line of the aircraft, and used with a homing receiver. 14403 rotatable loop aerial A loop aerial, used in direction-finding, which can be rotated in azimuth. 14404 streamline loop aeria

25、l A loop aerial completely enclosed in a streamline housing of insulating material. 14405 slot aerial A slot in a metal surface which acts as a transmitting and receiving element. If the slot is backed by a cavity of specific size, the cavity acts as a reflector and the aerial is then directional.BS

Miscellaneous No. Term Definition 14406 suppressed aerial An aerial which, to reduce its drag, does not project from the surface of an aircraft. 14407 quadrantal errors The directional errors, due to the effect of an aircrafts structure, on an incomi

27、ng radio signal. The error is zero on fore-and-aft and beam bearings and a maximum on quadrantal bearings. 14408 radio altimeter See5507. 14409 radome A cover for an aerial system which is weatherproof and transparent to radio frequency energy. 14501 aerodrome surface movement indicator (ASMI) A pri

28、mary radar system displaying, at a control point on an aerodrome, fixed and moving objects on the runways and taxiing surfaces. 14502 acquisition The process of locating an object so that its movement may be followed by radar equipment. 14503 angel An image on a radar screen of unexplained origin. 1

29、4504 automatic tracking A process by which tracking or data acquisition systems keep their aerials directed at a moving object without manual operation. 14505 cosmic noise Interference caused by cosmic radio waves. 14506 curved-path error The difference between the length of a ray refracted by the a

30、tmosphere and the straight-line distance between the ends of the ray. 14507 equi-signal zone A zone within which, with an overlapping signal pattern system, indication is given that an aircraft is on a particular track. 14508 ground (sea) returns Echoes received from the earth (sea) on an aircraft r

31、adar set. 14509 precipitation attenuation The loss of radio energy due to the passage through a volume of the atmosphere containing precipitation. 14510 spiral scanning In radar scanning, varying the azimuth and elevation of the aerial continuously to generate a spiral pattern of the beam.BS185: Sec
