5、S 143:1976 BSI 30 November 2001 1 1 Inspection and testing procedure 1.1 General. This British Standard shall be used in conjunction with the relevant sections of the latest issue of BS S 100 as follows. 1.2 Sulfur printing or deep etching tests. One sample shall be taken from each ingot for sulfur
6、printing or deep etching tests. 1.3 Ultrasonic examination. Billets and bars and, where practicable, forgings shall be subjected to ultrasonic examination. 2 Manufacture The material shall be manufactured by an electric process. 3 Chemical composition The steel shall contain: 4 Surface dressing The
7、material shall be overall dressed. 5 Condition 5.1 The material shall be supplied in the appropriate condition stated below. 5.2 Parts shall be supplied finally heat treated. Bars for machining delivered in the finally heat treated condition sections 1 and 3 Forging stock and billets and bars for su

The softening treatment shall consist of heating uniformly at a temperature between 610 C and 630 C for not less than 2 h, followed by cooling in air. 6.2 Final heat treatment. The final heat treatment shall c
11、onsist of the following: a) Solution treatment. Heat uniformly at a temperature between 1 000 C and 1 050 C for not less than 30 min, followed by cooling in air to a temperature not exceeding 30 C. b) Precipitation treatment, first stage. Heat at a temperature of 750 10 C for not less than 2 h, foll
12、owed by cooling in air to a temperature not exceeding 30 C. c) Precipitation treatment, final stage. Heat at a temperature between 530 C and 560 C for not less than 2 h, followed by cooling in air. 7 Mechanical properties 7.1 Tensile test at room temperature and impact test 7.1.1 Except as provided
13、in 7.1.2, the mechanical properties obtained from test pieces shall be as follows. 7.1.2 Alternatively to 7.1.1, the mechanical properties obtained from transverse test pieces shall be as follows. NOTE Information on SI units is given in BS 3763 “The International System of units (SI)” and BS 350 “C
14、onversion factors and tables”. 7.1.3 The ratio of 0.2% proof stress:tensile strength shall not exceed 0.98. 7.2 Hardness test 7.2.1 The hardness of material heat treated in accordance with 6.1 shall be not greater than 331 HB or 350 HV. 7.2.2 The hardness of material, parts and test samples heat tre
