7、6 (for material heat treated to a tensile strength of 1 3201 470 MPa). 1 Inspection and testing procedure 1.1 General. This British Standard shall be used in conjunction with the relevant sections of the latest issue of BS S 100 as follows: 1.2 Sulphur printing or deep etching tests. One sample shal
8、l be taken from each ingot for sulphur printing or deep etching tests. 1.3 Ultrasonic examination. The material shall be ultrasonically tested in accordance with BS S 100, Annex B. 2 Manufacture The material shall be manufactured by an electric process. 3 Chemical composition The steel shall contain

11、anadium 0.15 0.25BS 3S 132:1976 2 BSI 30 May 2003 5 Condition 5.1 Unless otherwise required by the order, the material shall be supplied in the appropriate condition stated below: 5.2 Parts shall be supplied finally heat treated and, if appropriate, stabilized and nitrided. 6 Heat treatment 6.1 Soft
12、ening treatment. The softening treatment shall consist of heating uniformly at a temperature of not less than 700 C. 6.2 Final heat treatment 6.2.1 The final heat treatment shall consist of the following. a) Hardening. Heat at a temperature of 950 10 C, followed by cooling in oil. b) Tempering. Heat
13、 uniformly at a temperature of not less than 600 C, followed by cooling in air. 6.2.2 If, exceptionally, bars for machining are delivered in the finally heat treated condition and have been subjected to a cold straightening or cold rolling operation, they shall be given a stress-relieving treatment,
14、 which shall be sufficient to restore the proof stress. 6.3 Stabilizing treatment. The stabilizing treatment, if any, shall consist of heating at a temperature of not less than 510 C nor more than the tempering temperature. 6.4 Blank nitriding treatment. The blank nitriding treatment of the addition
15、al impact test samples shall consist of heating at a temperature of 500 10 C for not less than 60 h. 7 Mechanical properties 7.1 Tensile test at room temperature and impact test. The mechanical properties obtained from test pieces shall be as follows: 7.2 Hardness test 7.2.1 The hardness of material
16、 heat treated in accordance with 6.1 shall be not greater than 277 HB. 7.2.2 The hardness of material, parts and test samples heat treated in accordance with 6.2 shall be: 388 min./429 max.
