Thesemethodsaresuitableforsingleandmultichanneldevicesandhybridconfigurations. Itshallbeusedtogeth

19、dasdefinedintheproductstandardandforeachmethodoftest: thefibreendsshallcomplywithrequirementsofEN2591100(Fibreendpreparationandtermination cleaning); thefibreendsshallbefixedtothelightlaunchanddetectorsystemsasdefinedinEN2591100; thefibre/cableusedforthetestshallmeettherequirementsoftheopticalconnec

20、tionelement,coupler orspliceproductstandard; movementofthefibres/cablesandtemporaryjointsshallbeminimizedduringthetestsetupand testingprocess; theminimumbendradiusofthefibre/cableshallnotbeexceeded; thefibrelengthsshallbeasstatedunlessotherwisedefinedinsubsequenttestrequirements. 3.2 Unlessotherwise

21、indicatedinthetechnicalspecification,thefollowingdetailsshallbespecified: method; numberofmeasurementstobeaveraged; preconditioningrequirements; recoveryprocedure; numberofchannelstobetestedinamultichanneldevice; maximumvalueofinsertionloss; maximumpermissiblestandarddeviationofinsertionloss; launch

22、conditions. 1) PublishedasAECMAPrestandardatthedateofpublicationofthisstandardEN2591601:2001(E) 4 4 Apparatus Itshallcomprise: aLightLaunchSystem(LLS)asdefinedinEN2591100; aLightDetectorSystem(LDS)asdefinedinEN2591100. Inaddition,thefollowingapparatusshallberequireddependinguponthemethodused: a) tem

23、poraryjoints(tj) 1) thejointsshallhavealowinsertionloss,goodperformancerepeatabilityandhaveminimumreflection loss.Indexmatchingmaterialmaybeused. 2) themeaninsertionlossandstandarddeviationofthejointsshallbespecifiedintheproductstandard. 3) thestandarddeviationofanytemporaryjointshallbeoneorderofmag

24、nitudebetterthanthatstatedin theproductstandardforthedeviceundertest. b) referencespecimen 1) thedimensionsandparametersshallbespecifiedintheproductstandard. 2) themeaninsertionlossshallbespecifiedintheproductstandard. 3) thestandarddeviationoftheinsertionlossshallbespecifiedintheproductstandard. 5

25、Methods Anumberofmethodsmaybeusedtomeasureinsertionloss.However,theprincipleisbasicallythesamefor eachmethod. First,theamountofusefulopticalpowerwhichcanbetransmittedthroughthecableshallbemeasured withoutthespecimensinstalled.Then,thespecimenshallbeinsertedintothecableandtheamountofuseful powershall

26、bemeasuredagain.Theinsertionlossshallbedefinedasthedecreaseintheamountof transmittedopticalpowerandshallbeexpressedasaratioindecibels(dB). ThelaunchconditionsshallbedefinedinEN2591100. 5.1 Method1 Itshallbelimitedtoasinglemeasurement.Itshallinvolvemakingtheinitialpowermeasurementina continuous(unbro

27、kenandwithouttemporaryjoints)fibre.Thefibreshallthenbebroken,thespecimen insertedandthepowermeasuredagain. 39、odforrematingthe connectorwhenmakingmultiplemeasurementsdependsonthenatureoftheparticularconnectorfamilyand arrangement. Thefollowingprocedureforrematingshallbefollowed: a) theconnectorsetshallbecompletelyuncoupledandrecoupledforeachmeasurement; b) nonkeyedconnectorsetsshallberelativelyrotated120bet

40、weencomponentsandmultiple measurementsmadeateachlocation; c) singlekeyedconnectorsshallhavemultiplemeasurementsmadeatthekeyedposition; d) multikeyedconnectorsshallhavemultiplemeasurementsmadeateachkeyedposition; e) patchcordconnectors:incombinationwiththeaboverotations,reversetheorientationofthepatc

41、hcord withrespecttothedirectionofpropagationofthelightandthefixedplugsandadaptors.
