Appropriatesealsforrotatingstirrershaftarelipsealsormechanicalseals.Theprobability ofleakagecanforexamplebereducedbyusingadoublemechanicalsealwithan overlayingsealingfluidwhichiskeptatahigherpressurethanthemedium.Inspecificcases theneedforsuchsealscanbeovercomeby
40、theuseofmagneticcouplings.However, aspectslikesterilizabilityandcleanabilityshouldbeconsideredwithcare.Anothersolution canbetheuseofforexampleairliftfermenters.Insuchcasesoffgastreatmentshouldbe properlyconsidered.
