16、(E) 4 1 Scope Thisstandardspecifiesatestmethodfortheburningbehaviourofindustrialandtechnicaltextilesusedfor tarpaulins,largetents,marquees,relatedstructures,airducts,etc. Itisnotintendedtoapplytomaterialsusedforsmallcampingtents,liningmaterialsnoranyotherinternalfeatures, nortoawnings. Thisstandardi

17、snotsuitablefortheliningsusedinsidelargetentsandmarquees. Aflameisusedtoigniteanygasesemitted.Theeffectsofignitionarenotedandtheextentofdamageis measured.EN14115:2001(E) 5 5 Apparatus NOTE Unlessotherwisespecified,alldimensionsquotedaretoatoleranceof 1mm. 5.1 TestapparatusforexampleasshowninFigures1to5withadditionaldatagiveninsubsequentdetails

22、comprising: 5.1.1 Ametalstructure,consistingbasicallyofasolidbaseplateandtwouprightsactingasslidesforthe arrangementsupportingthetestspecimen.Theverticalrectangularfaceofthissupport,whichispositioned oppositetheheater,measuresnominally130mmwideand100mmhigh.Thetestspecimensupportarmsforman angleof30w

23、iththehorizontal. 5.1.2 A500Welectricheater,comprising: 5.1.2.1Aceramicbody 1 withthefollowingdimensions: height 130mm insidediameteratthetop 31mm outsidediameterclosetothetop 59mm outsidediameteratmidheight 62mm outsidediameter30mmfrombase 65mm outsidediameterofenlargedbase 93,5mm 5.1.2.2Aceramicre

24、movablesleeve 1 .Thissleeveis130mmhighandapproximately3mmthickandislocated withintheceramicbodydescribedin5.1.2.1.Itisprovidedwitha500Wheatingelement.Ontheoutsidesurfaceit haseightverticalprojectionsapproximately3mmthick.Inside,ametalstripcomponentisusedtostabilizetheair temperature. 5.1.2.3Ametalba

25、se,approximately160mmindiameterand30mmhigh,providesathreepointfixingforthe ceramicbody(see5.1.2.1)andthesleeve(5.1.2.2),thelatterentering5mmintothemetalbase.Thisfixingis designedsothattheassemblyiseccentricandtheminimumhorizontaldistancefromitsbasetotheedgeofthe metalbaseis5mm.Eightholes10mmdiameter

26、areprovidedintheverticalcylindricalpartofthemetalbaseto serveasaninletfortheairwhich,afterhavingcirculatedwithintheheater,issuesfromitsupperpart. 5.1.3 Freshairflowadjusterplate,comprisingaplateofnoncombustiblematerial 1 ,310mmlong,210mmwide, 8mmthick,withinsulatingvaluesof: thermalconductivity (0,2

27、0 0,05)W/(mK) volumicmass =(850 80)kg/m 3 calorificcapacity c=(900 30)J/(kgK) 1 DetailsofsourcesofsupplymaybeobtainedfromNationalStandardsInstitutions.EN14115:2001(E) 6 Thisplatehasaholesuitablefortheheatertopassthroughand,inthecentreofitssmallside,arectangularslot 125mmlongand10mmwide.Theadjusterpl

28、ateispositionedhorizontally90mmbelowtheupperedgeofthe heatersothatitisincontactwiththesideofthemetalframe(5.1.1)toleaveanopeningareaof1250mm 2 forthe freshairtopassthrough. Inaddition,theplateprotectsthebaseoftheheaterfromanycontaminationduetocombustionofthematerials. 5.1.4 Testspecimensupportgrid,c

29、omprisingaframe600mmlongand160mmwide,madefromsteelrod4 mmindiameter(seeFigure4).Spikes,10mmlong,areweldedontothisgridandusedforholdingthetest specimen. 5.1.5 Aplateofnonmetallicnoncombustiblematerial,insulatingvaluesas(5.1.3),300mmlong,180mmwide, 8mmthickplacedoverthetestspecimenandcontactingthespik

30、esonthegridtypesupport.Thisdirectstheflow ofhotgaseswhenpartsofthetestspecimenaredestroyed. 5.1.6 Aburnerarrangement,comprisingaburnernozzlepilotflamesuppliedwith(95 7)ml/minofpropanegas weldedontoametaltubewhichpivotsaboutafixedpointononeoftheframeuprights.Theendoftheburner nozzleisshapedtoprovidea

31、flatflame(fishtailtype)20mmwideand(30 5)mmhigh.Intheoperatingposition, theflameshallcontactthesurfaceofthetestspecimenatadistanceof15mmfromtheverticalaxisoftheheater (seeFigure2),theburnernozzlebeingperpendiculartotheplaneofthetestspecimen. 5.1.7 HoodThetestapparatusisplacedbelowahoodwhichisprovided

32、withaforcedventilationsystem.This hoodhasasuitableopeninginitsupperpartforevacuatingtotheoutsideanygases,fumesandsmokeproduced bycombustion. 5.2 Ancillarytestequipment:Awattmeter,variabletransformer,voltageregulator,chronometer,andamethod formeasuringairspeed. 6 Testspecimen 6.1 Shapeanddimensions E

33、achtestspecimenshallbearectangle600mmx180mm. 6.2 Numberoftestspecimens Atleastfourtestspecimenspersamplearerequired(see8.9). 7 Conditioning Beforetesting,placethespecimensinsideachambermaintainedatatemperatureof(20 5)Candarelative humidity(50 15)%foratleast24h. Iftestingisnotcarriedoutimmediatelyaft

34、erconditioning,placetheconditionedtestspecimensinasealed container.Eachspecimenshallbetestedwithin3minafterremovingitfromtheconditioningatmosphereorsealed container.EN14115:2001(E) 7 8 Testprocedure WARNINGNOTE:Whentestspecimensburn,theymayreleasetoxicandnoxiousgaseslikelytoendangerthehealthof opera

35、tives.Itisthereforenecessarytotakeallappropriateprecautions. 8.1 Verifiytheapparatusisreadyforuseandcorrectlycalibrated(seeannexA)andcarryoutthetestinstillair insidethehood.Theairspeed,measuredatthecentreoftheupperedgeofthegridwheninstalledwithasample, shallnotexceed0,2m/s. 8.2 Arrangetheheaterandit

36、sbaseonthebaseplateofthemetalframe(5.1.1)sothatthedistance,measured inaccordancewiththeverticalaxisoftheheater,betweenitsupperedgeandthesurfaceofthetestspecimen,is (30 1)mm.Thehorizontaldistancebetweentheaxisoftheheaterandtheloweredgeofthetestspecimenshall be75mm(seeFigure1). 8.3 Fixthetestspecimeno

37、ntothesupportgrid,usingthespikesprovidedforthepurpose,sothatthesurface ofthetestspecimenisincontactwiththegrid. 8.4 Whentheelectricheaterisprovidingastableoutput,atleast60minafterhavingbeenswitchedon,quickly positionthesupportgridandthetestspecimenonitssupportandsimultaneouslystartthechronometer(zer

38、otime forthetest). 8.5 Immediatelylowertheplateofnoncombustiblematerial(5.1.5)ontothetopofthetestspecimen. 8.6 20saftercommencingthetest,bringtheflameoftheburnerarrangementintotheoperatingpositionunder thetestspecimenandholditinthatpositionfor5sbeforeremovingit.Repeatthisoperationonceafter45s,and th

39、enevery30suntil5minhaveelapsed. Consequentlytheapplicationtimesofthepilotflameare: 20s45s1min15s1min45s2min15s2min45s3min15s3min45s4min15s4min45s. Undernocircumstancesshouldthepilotflamebeappliedwhilethematerialisburning. 8.7 Thetestshallrunforatleast5minbutshallbeprolongeduntilthetestspecimenisfull

Duringthetest,notethefollowing: a) ifthematerialignites,thetimeatwhichignitionfirstoccured,eg.45s,1min15s,etc,thedurationofflaming fromignitiontimetilltheendafterhavingremovedthepilotflame; b) ifthereisanyfallofdropletsorparticles,whetherornottheyareburning; c) thedescriptionofthepart

41、softhespecimendestroyedordamaged; d) thetypeofflamepropagation,eg.totalorpartial,andthepersistenceandpropagationofglowingareas; e) theissueofsmokeorfumesandtheircharacteristics(amount,appearance). 8.8 Aftertesting,leavethetestspecimenonthegridandmeasurethefollowing: a) themaximumlengthofthedestroyed

42、area,fromtheloweredgeofthetestspecimen; b) themaximumwidthofthedestroyedareacoveringthatpartofthetestspecimenbetween450mmand600 mmfromitsloweredge. Thedestroyedareaisassumedtobeeverypartofthematerialwhichismissing,totallycharred,showingan importantlossofresistance,oradeeplydamagedaspect.Theareasonly

43、blackenedorsuperficiallydamageddue totheheatactionshallnotbetakenintoaccount.EN14115:2001(E) 8 Repeattheaboveoperationsontheotherthreetestspecimensandcalculatethearithmeticmeansofthesetwo valuesforthefourtestspecimens. 8.9 Inthecaseofanisotropicmaterialsand/orforthosethetwofacesofwhicharenotsimilar,operateas follows: a) carryoutonetest
