In caseswherethisspecimencannotbefracturedinthetestingmachineavailable,thedimensionsofthe 25 mmby2 5 mmblockmaybereducedtoasmallersquare,keepingthedime
36、nsionso f the 25 mm by 45 mm block constant.Thedimensionsofthespecimenandbondedareashallbeclearlystatedinthetestreport(claus e 13). In any case, it isdesirablethatthespecimensizebesuchastogiveimpactstrengthsthatfallsomewherenearthe middlerangeofthetestingmachine,sincereadingsinthehighestandlowestran
37、gesareoftenunreliable.The specimenshallbeassembledinsuchawaythatthefacereceivingtheimpactloadisatthepointofmaximum velocity of the impact head. The impactfaceofthespecimenshallbesquareandflat,perpendiculartotheplaneof thebond,andparalleltothestrikingfaceofthependulum. Testsonadhesiveswithhighimpacts
38、trengthshouldbeconductedo nsteeltominimizedeformation.Specimens maybereusedaftertesting,providedthatthefacereceivingtheimpactisnotdeformed. 6.2 Specimensforwoodtowoodadhesivesshallconformtothedimensionsshowninfigur e 2b).Thespecimens shallbepreparedbybondingblocks1 0 mmthickby2 5 mmwide,ofconvenient

Specimens,each2 5 mminwidth,maythenbecutfromthebondedassemblybycutting acrossthelongdimension,inthegraindirection.Woodhavingaminimumspecificgravityof0,6
