3、s this National Standard has been produced, was chartered in 1919 and accredited by the Standards Council of Canada to the National Standards system in 1973. It is a not-for-profit, nonstatutory, voluntary membership association engaged in standards development and certification activities. CSA stan

4、dards reflect a national consensus of producers and users including manufacturers, consumers, retailers, unions and professional organizations, and governmental agencies. The standards are used widely by industry and commerce and often adopted by municipal, provincial, and federal governments in the

5、ir regulations, particularly in the fields of health, safety, building and construction, and the environment. Individuals, companies, and associations across Canada indicate their support for CSAs standards development by volunteering their time and skills to CSA Committee work and supporting the As

6、sociations objectives through sustaining memberships. The more than 7000 committee volunteers and the 2000 sustaining memberships together form CSAs total membership from which its Directors are chosen. Sustaining memberships represent a major source of income for CSAs standards development activiti

7、es. The Association offers certification and testing services in support of and as an extension to its standards development activities. To ensure the integrity of its certification process, the Association regularly and continually audits and inspects products that bear the CSA Mark. In addition to

8、 its head office and laboratory complex in Toronto, CSA has regional branch offices in major centres across Canada and inspection and testing agencies in eight countries. Since 1919, the Association has developed the necessary expertise to meet its corporate mission: CSA is an independent service or

The principal objects of the Council are to foster and promote voluntary standardization as a means of advancing the national economy, benefiting the health, safety, and welfare of the public, assisting and protecting the consumer, facilitating domestic and internat

12、ional trade, and furthering international cooperation in the field of standards. A National Standard of Canada is a standard which has been approved by the Standards Council of Canada and one which reflects a reasonable agreement among the views of a number of capable individuals whose collective in

13、terests provide to the greatest practicable extent a balance of representation of producers, users, consumers, and others with relevant interests, as may be appropriate to the subject in hand. It normally is a standard which is capable of making a significant and timely contribution to the national

14、interest. Approval of a standard as a National Standard of Canada indicates that a standard conforms to the criteria and procedures established by the Standards Council of Canada. Approval does not refer to the technical content of the standard; this remains the continuing responsibility of the accr

15、edited standards development organization. Those who have a need to apply standards are encouraged to use National Standards of Canada whenever practicable. These standards are subject to periodic review; therefore, users are cautioned to obtain the latest edition from the organization preparing the

Technical Reports of types 1 and 2 are subject to review within three years of publication, to decide whether they can be transformed into International Stand

ISO/IEC TR 9126-3:2003, which is a Technical Report of type 2, was prepared by Joint Technical Committee ISO/IEC JTC 1, Information technology, Subcommittee SC 7, Software and system engineering. 41、eport (type 2) series of publications (according to the Procedures for the technical work of ISO/IEC JTC 1) as a “prospective standard for provisional application” in the field of external metrics for quantitatively measuring external software because there is an urgent need for guidance on how stan

42、dards in this field should be used to meet an identified need. This document is not to be regarded as an “International Standard”. It is proposed for provisional application so that information and experience of its use in practice may be gathered. Comments on the content of this document should be

43、sent to the ISO Central Secretariat. A review of this Technical Report (type 2) will be carried out not later than three years after its publication with the options of: extension for another three years; conversion into an International Standard; or withdrawal. 45、 measuring attributes of six external quality characteristics defined in ISO/IEC 9126-1. The metrics listed in this Technical Report are not intended to be an exhaustive set. Developers, evaluators, quality managers and acquirers may select metrics from this Technical Report for defining requirement

46、s, evaluating software products, measuring quality aspects and other purposes. They may also modify the metrics or use metrics which are not included here. This Technical Report is applicable to any kind of software product, although each of the metrics is not always applicable to every kind of soft

47、ware product. ISO/IEC 9126-1 defines terms for the software quality characteristics and how these characteristics are decomposed into subcharacteristics. ISO/IEC 9126-1, however, does not describe how any of these subcharacteristics could be measured. ISO/IEC TR 9126-2 defines external metrics, ISO/

48、IEC TR 9126-3 defines internal metrics and ISO/IEC 9126-4 defines quality in use metrics, for measurement of the characteristics or the subcharacteristics. Internal metrics measure the software itself, external metrics measure the behaviour of the computer-based system that includes the software, an

49、d quality in use metrics measure the effects of using the software in a specific context of use. This Technical Report is intended to be used together with ISO/IEC 9126-1. It is strongly recommended to read ISO/IEC 14598-1 and ISO/IEC 9126-1, prior to using this Technical Report, particularly if the reader is not familiar with the use of software metrics for product specification and evaluation. Clauses 1 to 7 and Annexes A to D are common to ISO/IEC TR 9126-2, ISO/IEC TR 9126-3, and ISO/IEC 9
