Recommendation proposed by Working Group T/WG 11 “Switching and Signalling” (CS) Revised text of the Recommendation adopted by the “Telecommunication

、s” Commission: “The European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations, considering - that SPC exchanges allow the flexible use of a subscribers line for a large variety of services and terminal - that an exchange must serve different types of subscribers lines; - that the variety

、of services, tesminal equipment and subscribers line types is likely to increase when the network - that, owing to the use of SPC techniques, the functions actually applying to a subscribers line are dependent on equipment; evolves toward a wide use of digital ethniques; data stored in the network,

、O recommends to the members of the CEPT, the use of the following definition and arrangements for the feature line service marking.” 1. DEFINITION Line service marking (LSM) is defned by the data which will determine how service requests originating and calls terminating on a subscribers line will b

、e handled. The determination of the data to be included in the line service marking is subject to special criteria. In general, the data provide information on the type of subscribers terminal (e.g. ordinary subscribers set, payphone, etc.) or the type of line and the services provided on the line (

、e.g. push-button dialling, abbreviated dialling, etc.). 2. . DESCRIPTION Each subscribers line or piece of equipment (line, terminal equipment, concentrator, etc.) is assigned an area for terminal data in an exchange memory. This terminal data memory (subscriber store) is interrogated each time a su

、bsoriber initiates or receives a call. From the tesminal data, further information on the setting-up of the call may be obtained. This may result in, for example, the connection of a digit receiver for rotary or push-button dialling, or for rotary dialling only, and the start of call routing. If the

、 store contains data restricting certain types of calls, the call Set-up procedure may be discontinued. Line categories and supplementary services information are assigned to the subscribers data by the Administrations as requested by the individual subscribers. If supplementary services are general

、ly avail- able, some reduction may be possible in the line service markings required. 3. TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS The number of line categories and classes of service should be sufficiently large. The line service markings can therefore be expanded if there is additional demand. Allocation, modific

、ation and cancellation of categories and services can be carried out by the Administration: (a) from the exchange console; (b) by remote control from an operators position. This procedure is also applicable during a call. The operation becomes effective either immediately OS after completion of the

、call, depending on the service concerned. Activation and deactivation of individual supplementary services can also be effected from the subscribess set, if this is provided for by the Administration. Note: The studies on this series (T/CS 20) of Recommendations for the features in an analogue envir

、onment has now been terminated. A continuation of the studies has started with the aim to amend these existing features, where necessary, and to specify new features for the ISDN. These Recommendations will be gathered in a new series of Recommendations. e Edition of May 15, 1986 TICS 20-05 E Page 2
