2、,-CGSB The CANADIAN GENERAL STANDARDS BOARD (CCSB), under whose auspices this specification has been developed, produces voluntary standards and specifications in many subject areas, at the request of sources in both the private and public sectors. The CGSB has been accredited by the Standards Counc

The standards that it develops and offers as Nationaf Standards of Canada conform to the criteria and procedures established for this purpose by the Standards Council of Canada. CGSB specifications are subject to review and revision at any time, so as to ensure
7、 that they keep abreast of technological progress. Suggestions for their improvement, which are always welcome, should be brought to the notice of the committee concerned. Changes to specifications are issued either as separate amendment sheets or in new editions of specifications. An uptodate listi
8、ng of CGSB specifications, including details on latest issues and amendments, and ordering instructions, will be found in the Catalogue of Standards and Qualified Products Lists which is published annually and is available without charge upon request. Although the intended primary application of thi

33、r cane juice or from the process of manufacturing raw or refined sugar. 35、 the following types, as specified (par. 8.1): Types Type 1 - Fancy Molasses Type 2 - Table Molasses Type 3 - Cooking Molasses. QENERAL REQUIREMENTS The molasses shall comply with the relevant portions of the Food and Drugs Act and Regulations. Fancy molasses (Type 1) shall be the syrupy food obtain
36、ed by the evaporation and partial inversion of the clarified or unclarified sugar cane juice from which sugar has not been previously extracted. 43、facturing raw or refined sugar. The molasses shall possess a good flavour and colour equal to the best quality of the type specified. The molasses shall be produced, handled, processed, packaged and delivered under sanitary conditions in accordance with good commercial practice. Containers shall be
44、well sealed, clean and free from rust and other defects. DETAIL REOUIREMENTS Fancy and table molasses (Types 1 and 2) shall not contain more than 25% moisture and more than 3% sulfated ash. Cooking molasses (Type 3) shall not have more than 12% sulfated ash by mass. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY Unless o
45、therwise specified (par. 8.1), normal commercial packaging, labelling and marking shall be acceptable. Molasses to this specification shall be packaged in containers of types and sizes specified (par. 8.1). Normal trade sizes are 300g. 1 kg, 1.35 kg cartons, and 5 kg containers. INSPECTION Sampllng
46、- Sampling for inspection and testing shall be at the discretion of the inspection authority, unless a specific sampling plan is specified (par. 8.1). Testing - The sulfated ash content (par. 5.1) shall be determined in accordance with the method given in the Official Methods of Analysis of the AOAC
