31、ermine particle size. The series of sieves described in this standard is known as the Canadian Standard Sieve Series. CANXGSB-8.2-M describes the Canadian Metric Sieve Series. The source for this publication is shown in the Notes section. CLASCIFICATION It is recommended that testing sieves be available in the following types, according t
33、o their effective height, which is the distance between the surface of the woven wire cloth in a testing sieve and the top of the sieve frame. Types Type 1 - Full-height sieves: effective height of 2 in - 8 in nominal diameter Type 2 - Half-height sieves: effective height of 1 in - 8in nominal diame
34、ter. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS The wire cloth shall be of brass, bronze or stainless steel, not plated or coated. It shall be plain weave, except that meshes having openings finer than a number200sieve may be twill weave. Both the warp and the shoot (weft) wires shall be crimped to hold all wires rigid w

41、 license from IHS-,-,-CGSB CAN/CGSB- 8.1-88 Xt 4.2 Frames for wire cloth sieves together with covers and pans shall be constructed of non corrosive material such as brass or stainless steel in such a manner as to be permanently rigid and to nest snugly. 4.3 The wire cloth shall be mounted on the sie
42、ve frame without distortion, looseness or waviness. The joint between the wire cloth and the frame shall be smoothly filled with solder, or otherwise fashioned so that the joint shall have no influence on the determination of particle size by the sieve. The joint or fillet shall be so constructed as
43、 to allow a minimum free-sieving surface of not less than 7-112 in diameter for a sieve having a nominal diameter of 8 in. The per cent effective sieving surface of other sizes of sieves shall be within this tolerance. 4.4 The sieves shall be free from obvious imperfections or defects in workmanship
44、 and material. 5. DETAIL REQUIREMENTS 5.1 Aperture Tolerances - The wire cloth used in a sieve shall conform to the dimensional requirements in Table 1. The average apertures in both the warp and shoot (weft) directions, measured separately, shall conform to the values for the sieve designation with
45、in the permissible variation given. In no case shall any individual aperture exceed the value given for the maximum individual aperture, nor more than 5% of the openings exceed the value given in Table 1. All measurements of apertures shall be made on wire cloth mounted in the completed sieve. 5.2 A
46、ngle Tolerance - With the exception of any twilled weave item the warp and shoot (weft) wires shall be perpendicular to each other after mounting within a maximum deviation of 8 from the perpendicular based on the mean direction of wires over several meshes. 2Y sin 8 = - W where: W is the standard s
47、ieve designation Y is the permissible variation of average aperture from the standard sieve designation. 5.3 Wire diameter tolerances - The wire diameters given in Table 1 apply to woven wire cloth mounted in a frame. The average diameter of the wires in the cloth of any sieve, in both the warp and
48、shoot (weft) directions, measured separately, shall not deviate from the nominal values given in Table 1 by more than * 15%.
