21、ercome under normal commercial operating conditions. Surface Condition - The paper surface shall be free from blemishes, dust, lint and other particles or imperfections that may adversely affect its printing or end use. Formation - The formation of the paper shall be close and even. Trim (sheets) -
22、The paper shall be trimmed with clean, smooth edges and shall be evenly jogged unless otherwise specified (par. 8.1). Successive sheets within any stack shall not vary by more than 1.5 mm in their respective jogged position. Trim (rolls) - The edges of the roils shall be smooth, clean and even. Spli
23、ces in Rolls - The number of splices allowed per roll is defined using the following parameters: Diameter No. of Splices up to 762 mm 1 763 mm to 1219 mm more than 1220 mm 3 2-3 Each splice must be marked with an arrow on the edge of the roll. Stock - The paper base stock shall normally be free from
24、 more than trace amounts (less than 1%) of unbleached pulps, except that no limitation is imposed on the amount of deinked or non-deinked bleached secondary (recycled) fibre, nor on the amount of high-yield pulps present in the stock. Fluorescent (optical) brighteners may be present. Moisture Conten
25、t - This paper may be used either in air-conditioned pressrooms or in pressrooms lacking relative humidity and temperature controls. Unless otherwise specified (par. &i), the paper at the time of delivery shall be in equilibrium with a relative humidity of 45 rt 5% and a temperature of 23 f 0.5”C fo
26、r sheets, and 35 f 5% at a temperature of 23 f OSOC for webs if used in air-conditioned pressrooms. If specified “FOR USE IN NON-AIR- CONDITIONED PRESSROOMS” (par. S.), the paper at the time of delivery shall be in suitable equilibrium with seasonally prevailing relative humidity and temperature con
27、ditions. DETAILED REQUIREMENTS Physical Dimensions (sheets) - The paper shall be furnished in the sheet sizes specified (par. 8.1). For sheet sizes up to and including 216.0 x 356.0 mm, the paper shall not be undersize, and not more than 0.8 mm oversize in either direction. For sheet sizes larger th
28、an 216.0 x 356.0 mm, the paper shall not be undersize, and not more than 2.4 mm oversize in either direction. Successive sheets within any package shall not differ from one another by more than 0.8 mm. Sheets shall be square on all four sides within a tolerance of 0.8 mm in each 762.0 mm as determin
29、ed on a squaring table. The edge bow in individual sheets shall not be more than 0.8 mm in each 762.0 mm, as determined by turning a sheet over, butting an edge against the corresponding edge of the sheet below, measuring the gap between them, and taking half of this measurement. Width (rolls) - The
30、 rolls shall be a width as specified (par. 8.1) with a tolerance of 0.8 mm. Cores (rolls) - The paper shall be wound on a non-returnable core which has an inside diameter as specified (par. 8.1). The cores shall be of fibrous material, and shall have a wooden, metal or plastic bung at each end. Gram
31、mage - The paper shall be supplied as specified (par. 8.1) in the grammages listed in Tables 1,2 and 3, with a tolerance of f5% on individual sheets. Thickness - The paper shall conform to the average thickness in Tables 1, 2 and 3, with a tolerance of W.005 mm. The difference in average paper thick
32、ness in either sheets or rolls as ordered shall not exceed 0.005 mrn. Hydrogen Ion Concentration (pH) - The pH value of the cold extract of the paper shall not be less than 5.8 when determined in accordance with Technical Section CPPA Standard G.25P. Pick Resistance - The paper shall print free of pick-outs under normal offse
38、t printing conditions. Physical and Optical Properties - Physical and optical properties shall be in accordance with the requirements of Tables 1, 2 and 3. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY Packaging, Labelling and Marking - The paper shall be packaged, labelled and marked in accordance with normal commercia
39、l practice unless otherwise specified (par. 8.1). The number of sheets in each package shall be as specified (par. 8.1). Packing - The paper shall be in moisture-vapour proof enclosures for both sheets and rolls, unless otherwise specified (par. 8.1). Pile Height Variations (shees) - The pile height
40、 variation from any one comer shall not exceed 25 mm when measured from the centre of the pile. INSPECTION Sampling - Sampling shall be at the discretion of the inspection authority, unless a specific sampling plan is specified (par. 8.1).
